Head-on car crash in Russia caught on video

Posted Aug 2nd 2011 5:30PM

While we never want to glorify accident videos, catching a dramatic multi-vehicle crash on a dash-cam like this is a very rare occurrence. This horrific crash happened in Russia, where road safety is notoriously bad for a variety of reasons. First, the crumbling infrastructure can offer up some pretty rough roads, as you can see in the video. Then the Ruskie-mobiles themselves (such as Ladas) are often scrap heaps that are likely to be unsafe at any speed. And finally, it is no secret that driving while under the influence is a major problem in the former communist nation where Vodka flows like water.

At the same time, it is uncertain if any (or all) of these factors were to blame here. The video is a chilling reminder that texting while driving, or anything else that doesn't keep your full attention on the road can have serious consequences. On a high-speed two lane highway, you have to be 100 per cent focused on the task at hand.

Here's to hoping everyone made a full recovery. Check out the video after the jump.
