Honda has confirmed that a new Honda/Acura NSX is in the works, according to Autocar. Honda is aiming for the successor to be the halo car once again building the brand's image, similar to what the R8 is to Audi and SLS AMG is to Mercedes-Benz.
Honda's R&D Chief Mike Toshihiro has confirmed that work has already been underway to produce a new supercar that will be just as iconic as the legendary NSX. In a separate report, it was suggested that the new iteration could be on sale as early as end of 2012!

Honda president Takanobu Ito has subtly noted previously that the new NSX would be much different than the original. With Honda focusing heavily on the next generation of electric and hybrid vehicles it would not be a huge surprise if the new version would be either of the two.
Insiders advise that a close-to-production concept will be shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in November, with production to begin in late 2012. However, this may be a tough target for Honda to hit after the development may have been affected by Japan's earthquakes and tsunami, so we will keep our eyes and ears open for more solid details in the future.
We expect the concept to be revealed to look somewhat similar to Tony Stark's new ride in the upcoming Avengers movie.
