Being the final major auto show of the season here in Canada, the Vancouver International Auto Show can sometimes offer up a surprise or two.

Along with all the major brands showing off new vehicles previously revealed in Montreal, Toronto, or at a show overseas, such as Geneva, Tokyo, or even LA, Detroit, or Chicago (New York is too close to the Vancouver show this year so Vancouver show-goers won't likely see the new Chevy Impala, Lexus ES, or any of the other cars expected to debut there ... although simultaneous reveals have occurred before), the 92nd annual Vancouver event brings a rare North American debut and an especially sweet moviestar car from Hollywood.

BMW has chosen Vancouver, one of its hottest markets, for the North American unveiling of its all-new 6 Series Gran Coupe, a cross between its popular 5 Series sedan and sporty 6 Series two-door Coupe. The 6 Series Gran Coupe was first shown only weeks ago in Geneva. But that is only a taste of what else is in store at BC Place.

Transformers
fans will recognize the Corvette Stingray Concept, dubbed "Sideswipe" when it appeared in the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which will be part of the General Motors show stand.

Other highlights are to include two Canadian debuts, the 2013 Audi S5 Coupe and the 2013 Smart ForTwo, while Western Canadian introductions include the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart compact sedan, 2013 VW Jetta Hybrid, and 2013 VW Golf R. A total of 13 regional reveals round out the all-new model introductions.

Green in mind, the Clean Energy Vehicle Showcase will feature the new Chevrolet Volt, Nissan LEAF and Mitsubishi i-MiEV, while at the other end of the spectrum a new Truck City display will highlight the latest truck trends. Additionally, the Redline Stage will play host to special guests speaking on various automotive subjects and answer questions throughout the week. Luxury Lane will once again boast all the sweetest supercars ranging from: Aston Martin (Virage), Ferrari (FF), Lamborghini (Aventador), Lotus (Evora IPS), Maserati (Gran Turismo Convertible Sport), McLaren (MP4-12C), etc., along with ultra-premium marques Bentley (Continental GTC) and Rolls-Royce (Ghost), while the new Fisker Karma sedan offers environmentally-focused luxury buyers an electrically-powered, gasoline-assisted hybrid alternative. Lastly, Haggerty Classic Alley will take show-goers back to yesteryear with numerous classics including a beautiful 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing.

More than 200 new vehicles will be on display at the recently renewed BC Place Stadium.

The show starts Tuesday, April 3, at noon, and runs through Sunday, April 8, until 6 pm. See below for show hours, admission prices, and other details.
