You read it right, rumours suggest a 530 horsepower twin-turbo Infiniti "Super G" is in the works! Based on the recent MotorTrend interview with an industry insider at Infiniti, production plans are well underway for an all-new 3.7-litre direct injection, twin turbocharged V-6 engine in the new range of IPL (Infiniti Performance Line) high-performance vehicles.
We're told the engine will require specialized production methods only available in Japan, which will basically be hand-made alongside the Nissan GT-R production at the Tochigi plant. The twin turbo IPL G Coupe is being designed to target high-performance luxury beasts like the Mercedes C63 AMG and BMW M3. It's fairly safe to say a fire breathing G packing this kind of heat should fetch roughly the same price as the closely related GT-R.
The 530 horsepower IPL G is one rumour that has been circulating about a GT-R stablemate under the Infiniti brand. Maybe the Infiniti executives were inspired by our comments last year, when we tested the IPL G Coupe suggesting a more aggressive hood, wider fenders and more power to set it apart from a regular G37S?
