Vancouver motorcyclist's 300 km/h ride in traffic gets police attention

Posted Apr 18th 2012 2:57PM

In the pantheon of bad ideas and even worse ideas, capturing yourself on video gratuitously breaking the law and later flaunting your indiscretions to the local constabulary ranks right between sticking your face into a diesel truck's tailpipe and standing atop a motorcycle shooting off a gun on city streets.

In other words, it's dumb.

Funny thing is, people seem to make this egregious mistake rather often. Like, the video you'll see after the jump.

First off, it's seriously stupid and irresponsible to risk your own life and the lives of others by riding at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour while weaving your way through traffic. But it takes even fewer brain cells to share video evidence on YouTube, especially considering that we can all see that you're riding what appears to be a 2006 Yamaha R1 painted up in factory blue.

According to CBC News, Vancouver Island police are trying to track down the rider in this clip. Head past the jump to see the video for yourself.

Oh i forgot to add anyone ever watched Canada's Worst Driver - the TV show. Doesn't it make you wonder how those people ever got a licence or are even allowed to keep one.

There need to be a change in the MTO structure and testing guideline and policies in Canada, I am guessing its not much different in the US as well as their drivers are equally bad!

It is plain stupid to do such speeds on any public roads NA or Europe.
But I have to agree with a lot of comments here that NA drivers including Canadians and US are the worst in the world for a developed nation. Absolutely no idea about lane changes and discipline and the driving tests in NA are retarded compared to any European countries.

How do i know as I have driven quite a bit in Europe including studying in England and my trip to even Germany. There are trucks and buses on fast lanes in Canada, this is unheard of in Europe and the 100 km/hr is a joke set in the 70's during the oil crisis and never removed. The cops here are just interested in making there quotas with the easiest infractions to pick is speeding, while 99% of the problem lies herein with incompetent drivers, complete lack of decent driver training or awareness. The cops just pay no attention or are remotely even interested in managing other actions to discipline errant drivers.

It has been proven over and over again that if speed killed all of Europe would be dead, even in Finland it take 4 years for a new driver to pass, including night driving, skid control, slalom etc. NA drivers dont know how to drive period and I am not talking about immigrants only, but white people from here. Also I have been hit 3 times by white women quite badly each resulting in upwards of $10,000 in damage and always my cars have been new, next time I am seriously considering never buying a new car due to the terrible condition on the canadian roads.

All the warnings they give drivers to be careful and check your blind spots for people on motorbikes....this guy does not give drivers a chance to watch out for him. They would not stand a chance of seeing him coming.

There are a lot of cars in the passing lane that aren't passing if the driver of the bike was going slower then the license plates could be traced and the police could go after those people breaking the law.

Sure shows how dangerous it is for so many people to ignore the laws about driving in the right lane unless passing. I think this video is a good example of why north american drivers would never survive in Europe where the lane laws are enforced and only an idiot would continuously drive in the wrong lane., Guy on the bike had to make this video to show the poor policing we have in this area..............
