This is a very rare sight for multiple reasons. First, it's a Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG Super Sport and second, it's actually being offered up for sale! It might be hard to grasp the true significance of buying a 12-year old supercar for US$1.4 million on eBay... but c'mon, this is a CLK GTR AMG we're talking about!
This fine example of German engineering is a crazy find worth every penny, as its low mileage (only 1,492 miles!) and very limited production as #17 of 25 CLK GTRs in the world (also 1 of 5 CLK GTR AMG Super Sport models ever built) make this a highly desirable addition to any car collection.
The Guinness Book of World Records listed the CLK GTR as the most expensive production car ever built at the time, with an MSRP price of US$1,547,620. This 2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is powered by a 6.9-litre AMG-built V12 engine delivering 720 horsepower and 572 lb/ft of torque, with a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) time of just 3.1 seconds with a top speed of 346 km/h (215 mph). Not bad for a car built over a decade ago.
Rookies be warned, the CLK GTR is known as a real handful to drive on and off the track. The aerodynamics at speed caused the CLK GTR to actually lift off in air, leading to their reputation for end-over-end flip over crashes as seen in this LeMans video footage.
This particularly sexy and street legal CLK GTR is being sold by Ferrari-Maserati of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and has a lengthy list of factory options not usually found on a race car including carbon fibre, integrated steel roll bars, air conditioning and an upgraded audio system.
So if you're interested in one of the rarest Mercedes production cars in the world (and happen to have the cash to spare) used Buy It Now because this is the car for you!
