As intuitive Apple products continue to integrate into our lives, it was just a matter of time until the clever brand planted itself front and center on your steering wheel. Apple recently teased us with a quick "Eyes Free" demo by Scott Forstall (Apple's VP of iOS Software), as the company aims to bring Siri's new vehicle integration to market.
Labeled as a safety feature, the idea is to integrate Siri with the simple tap of a convenient steering wheel-mounted button. The clearly visible (and likely logo-branded) button would toggle Siri on your iOS device, rather than taking your eyes off the road to reach for your iPhone or iPad.
As expected, when a powerhouse like Apple plans a product there are always plenty of partners lined up to take part. It's reported that Audi, BMW, GM, Mercedes, Land Rover, Jaguar, Toyota, Chrysler and Honda are all said to be on board, with Siri's new vehicle integration making its way as an option on a number of new vehicles within the next year.
