We know what you're thinking, why is anyone planning the 100th anniversary of the Corvette already? Will the Corvette even be around or even Chevrolet or GM for that matter? The diehard fans of this sports car say yes, so this year, Mid America Motorworks has dreamed up something special for the Corvette's 60th anniversary this year. They have planned to put together a time capsule for their upcoming all Corvette event and are looking to crowd-sourced items to include inside the custom capsule shown above.
So do you live, eat, breathe Corvettes? Good, then chances are you probably have some funky memorabilia lying around and might consider donating it to be part of a larger cause. Mid America Motorworks has put the call out to Corvette fans around the world to submit their keepsakes to be included inside a time capsule that will be buried at the Corvette Funfest 2012, this September 13-16. The site on the Effingham, Illinois headquarters will then be unearthed 40 years from then by Corvette owners from the future at a time when many of the current crop is long gone to that endless highway in the sky.
Time capsule organizers are looking for any type of collectable, but are also looking for renderings of what future Corvettes might look like to see how they compare with the 2053 model. We're interested to see what kind of goodies make the cut to go into capsule and have to wonder by the time it's unearthed, will we are all driving cars made of recycled trees, running on water that take flight when traffic gets heavy... all on autopilot of course!
