Cops and robbers, in any shape or form, whether it's a game we played as kids, a video game we played as we got older or in the form of movies and videos we watch, have always held us in fascination. There's always the excitement of the chase and always the nail biting, seat gripping, tension until we find out the outcome of the eternal, good vs. evil battle. So without further ado, on to the chase where Los Angeles area bank robbers toss money outside the window the the getaway SUV!

In Santa Clarita, California hundreds of bystanders took to the streets along the route of a high speed chase... and for good reason. The boys in blue were trying to chase down and apprehend a group of alleged bank robbers who were tossing cash monies out of their Volvo SUV getaway vehicle to create diversion and stash evidence. "This isn't something we see every day," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Capt. Mike Parker said. "This definitely had some unique aspects to it."

According to video footage and eyewitness reports, here is how it all went down.

Handfuls of stolen cash were thrown out of the backseat window of the speeding Volvo as the authorities were doing their best to apprehend them. The chase originated from the scene of an armed robbery at a bank in Santa Clarita. "If they thought that by throwing money out the window, that that would distract us or have people get in the way and block us -- they're going to run out of money," Parker said "We're not going to run out of sheriff's deputies. We're not going to run of helicopters. We're going to stick with them. "I can't imagine they did this for the good of the community," Parker later added.

Bystanders and onlookers swarmed the vehicle once they realized Robin Hood may be in town. At times, the Volvo's erstwhile driver had to navigate through the swarms of people.

Parker said there are either four or five suspects. They were armed with at least one handgun.

Two were taken into custody at the end of the pursuit. Police are still searching for two other suspects in the Sylmar area.

Helicopter chase video showed a person being taken into custody in Sylmar at about 1 p.m.

The pursuit ended once the Volvo was forced to stop after hitting heavy traffic. Amidst the sea of people, Police managed to make some arrests.

Not everyone was trying to put these guys behind bars. A 23 year old resident of the area who witnessed this said, "I'm just so glad this person came to throw this money in the 'hood, basically. You usually see robbers and they take their stuff and they leave. But this guy came over and tried to help us out. You know, it's a big depression nowadays,"

No injuries have yet be reported.
