Thieves crash stolen SUV into mall and loot jewelry stores

We all know crime doesn't pay, but I guess no one told that to this gutsy group of door-crashing thieves. This recent robbery sounds like a scene from a Hollywood action movie, as shocking surveillance video captures the crooks smashing a stolen SUV through a Burnaby, BC shopping mall and looting along the way.

The stunt-driving thieves forced their way into the Metrotown mall for a little "after hours discount," leaving a massive trail of destruction from crashing into a number of shops and jewelry stores. According to police, four men in disguises were seen running out of the vehicle, scooping up the contents of several jewelry cases and then escaping in the same SUV together.

Although there were no reported injuries, a cleaning staff member can be seen scrambling for safety on video, as the SUV suddenly appears. Police also indicate this crime was quite similar to recent incidents at various malls in the area, but provided no further details on any connection.

"This brazen crime trend is concerning to us, and thankfully no innocent citizens have been injured," RCMP Supt. Derren Lench said in a release. "It's obvious we are dealing with a determined and professional group."
