Jeep driver busted for daily sidewalk detour to avoid stopped school bus [UPDATE]

Posted Nov 7th 2012 2:00PM

A Cleveland school bus driver helped police catch a motorist for taking a rather odd sidewalk detour each morning, in order to avoid stopping for a children's school bus.

This cell phone video shows the dangerous driver caught in the act, as local police set up nearby to take down this reckless Jeep after several complaints of the incident taking place. We're sure this driver had plenty of time to think of their new route to work when they we're pulled over by the ticket-issuing officer.

School bus driver Uriah Herron is credited by supervisors for his quick thinking to nab the driver on camera and can be heard getting the last laugh on video saying, "Justice has been served."

UPDATE: Despite video evidence showing Shena Hardin, 32, of Cleveland, Ohio, driving on the sidewalk twice, Hardin decided to plead Not Guilty to charges of not stopping for a school bus and reckless operation at a September court hearing, but the judge found otherwise. In addition to a $250 fine and 30-day suspension of her driver's license, the judge also ordered Hardin to stand at an intersection near where she dodged the bus wearing a sign that says "Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus." She'll be out there next Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:45 am to 8:45 am.
