While Jerry Seinfeld was gallivanting around LA with Sarah Silverman in a Jaguar XKE, our favourite car-loving comedian, Jay Leno, was checking out the all-new 2014 Cadillac ELR. Set to go on sale later this year, GM brought its ELR to Jay Leno's Garage to show off some of its styling and technology as well as give Leno some seat time in the range-extended EV. Leno owns both a Volt and a CTS-V, and the ELR is, arguably, a combination of the two (sort of).

In this episode, Leno spends some time talking to Frank Saucedo, GM director of advanced design, and ELR chief engineer Chris Thomason before logging a few kilometres on the sleek coupe. Interestingly, it seems that GM has definitely changed its tune a little since the introduction of the Volt a couple years ago; Saucedo and Leno both refer to the ELR as a hybrid, and Thomason says that it gets the "bulk of its propulsion" from the electric motors. Season Two of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee kicked this week in style. How much more style is there to be had than in a 1969 Jaguar XKE, after all? This time around, Seinfeld and Sarah Silverman spend some time driving around in the "slinky, sexy" Jag, talking comedy and then grabbing breakfast.

In addition to the kickoff of the show's second season, this episode also represents the start of a 24-episode sponsorship with Acura. The original deal promised short ads at the beginning and end of each episode, but this time around, Seinfeld "stumbles upon" a 2014 Acura RLX, which is obviously - and admittedly - the work of product integration. Looks like Canadian superstar Drake (who recently bought a Bugatti Veyron) wasn't the only high profile celebrity seen with a new ride this week, as Justin Bieber was spotted driving a new leopard print Audi R8. After catching heat from a number of speeding incidents in Dubai, shooting flames at fans from his Lamborghini and even being told he should quit driving, it's quite clear Justin Bieber is still refusing to learn from his many automotive mistakes.

The offensive leopard print paint job is said to have cost Bieber quite a few bucks, as any reputable shop would likely refuse to ruin a perfectly fine Audi R8 in such bad taste (unless you paid them enough). We're also willing to bet whoever did the work would prefer not to be associated with the hideous supercar either. This poor Audi R8 is just another notch on Bieber's matching leopard print belt.

Need For Speed Movie Ford Mustang - blurry drive shot

Dreamworks Studios, Electronic Arts and Ford Motor Company announced that the Ford Mustang will play the lead hero car role in the upcoming Need for Speed movie, slated to hit theaters next February. Of course, the Mustang didn't audition for the role like we imagine the film's star, Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad fame, might have. Rather, Ford and Dreamworks struck a partnership deal that meant the Mustang could skip the casting couch. The deal will also see the film's universe populated with other Ford products (gratuitously so, we're guessing), and the automaker will also help the studio promote the video-game-turned-movie next year.

The hero car in question is a special one-off Mustang created by Ford that is making its debut at the E3 video game trade show as we speak. Powered by a supercharged V8 and apparently based on the Shelby GT500, the car's been modified with a widebody kit, 22-inch wheels, larger air intakes and twin hood nostrils. Ford also provided the film's production with an F-450 truck that will be called "The Beast" in the film's story, and a second Mustang to be used during filming as a camera car.

The Mustang's movie career is really taking off, with news of its Need For Speed casting closely following last week's release of the trailer for Getaway, a movie coming out in August that stars Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez and another Shelby GT500. In addition to Aaron Paul and a modified Mustang, the Need For Speed movie also stars Michael Keaton (cop, we're guessing) and Dominic Cooper (villain, we're guessing), and is directed by Scott Waugh, who directed the Navy SEAL film Act of Valor in 2012.

Drake was spotted back in his hometown of Toronto to take delivery of his Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir before he headed back to the US to finish off the Club Paradise Tour last week. We suspect Drake is in town as he is nominated for Best Music Video for this week's upcoming Much Music Video Awards (MMVA) and will also be back in August for OVO fest.

The striking Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir will be in good company with his Bentley Continental Supersports, Range Rover and a Maybach. The Sang Noir edition is listed as the most expensive new car to be advertised and sports a "black blood" exterior and a "creamsicle orange guts" interior. The aesthetic treatment is a departure from the more common (well, as common as a Bugatti gets) two-tone colour schemes that Bugatti tends to favour. Only 15 Sang Noirs were available in North America when released and they're now worth more than what they sold for from Bugatti direct.

So it's no surprise to see the Started from the Bottom rapper act fast to jump on his chance to purchase a Sang Noir and set himself apart from his fellow Bugatti-owning rappers Lil Wayne and Birdman (who also own Veyrons). We can't help but wonder if Drizzy realizes that a brand new record breaking Veyron is due to be released this year?!

After watching Chevy unleash a video of its mighty Camaro ZL1 in honour of National Donut Day, we had a funny feeling we'd see a few more so-called celebration videos turn up today. Although the supercharged 6.2L Camaro ZL1 can certainly put on a memorable smoke show, Lexus planned to top that with its awesome V10-powered LFA and beautiful LPGA Pro Golfer Natalie Gulbis behind the wheel.

The empty parking lot serves as the perfect place for the bright yellow LFA to 'celebrate,' as Gulbis gladly throws down a freshly-baked order of delicious LFA donuts and proves she sure isn't shy when it comes to laying down a little rubber for the cameras.

With all the technology we have out there nowadays, the age-old formula of power-to-weight ratio still rings true. So what happens when you take a Formula Ford racer and add a tuned 1-litre, 3-cylinder Ford Ecoboost motor with over 200 hp and put in some hot laps around the Nurburgring? Or, perhaps go for a jaunt on some public roads with the only street legal Formula Ford out there. Chris Harris can't wait to show you what happens in this spectacular video.

The Ford 1.0 litre Ecoboost producing 170 hp or so found in the Ford Fiesta isn't exactly what we picture when think of the 'Ring and good times. But that's exactly what the little powerhouse that could, delivers once Ford added a larger turbo from the 1.6L Ecoboost and some ECU tuning.

We won't spoil the video for you, but get ready to watch Chris Harris having a blast behind the wheel of this 500 kilo tiny terror. Pro racer Nick Tandy lapped the Nurburgring in just 7 minutes and 22 seconds (with it tuned in 205 hp form), which earns this car a spot in super car territory with the likes of the mighty Nissan GTR, Porsche 911 GT2, Corvette Z06 and quicker than a Ferrari Enzo.

Shelby GT500 Super Snake - screencap from the movie Getaway

Car movies. We keep watching them, they keep making them. Despite Fast & Furious 6 still blowing up the box office (No. 1 in theatres for the second straight week) and production on Transformers 4 being well underway (check out the Bugatti Veyron and Corvette Stingray as new cast members), there's still room on the marquee for more car movies. Next one up is an Ethan Hawke joint called Getaway, which prominently co-stars a Ford Shelby GT500. The first trailer for Getaway, which opens in theaters on August 30, was released yesterday and can be watched below.

The movie's plot centers around Hawke's character, former race car driver Brent Magna, who must somehow use this car, what appears to be a generation-old Shelby GT500 Super Snake he "commandeered," to save his wife. The movie's third co-star is Selena Gomez, whose character we're told is the owner of said Shelby. A 20-year-old having a car like this seems a bit far-fetched - especially in Europe - and on paper, this plot looks like it cribs liberally from Charlie Sheen's 1994 The Chase. But all we've got to go on is a brief plot description and the trailer below, so we'll withhold judgment until the studio firmly has our ticket money in its grasp.

The Shelby GT500 is, of course, no stranger to acting. Before this jump to celluloid, the most fearsome of all Mustang models starred in the return of Knight Rider to television on NBC back in 2008. That gig didn't pan out for the car, the show lasting only one season and 17 episodes. In fact, with its casting in Getaway, the Shelby GT500 is one of the few actors who escaped that debacle with a future in show biz.

Jerry Seinfeld Acura Super Bowl ad with NSX - screencap

We enjoyed the opening season of Seinfeld's offbeat Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee web series, a video serial where Jerry Seinfeld picked up his friends in some of his classic cars and... chatted. It was a simple premise that offered some genuinely enjoyable moments, even if the 'cars' connection was often a bit incidental. In any case, Acura must have felt the same way, as it has just inked a deal to be the sole sponsor for the series' next season.

Acura, you may recall, already enjoys a relationship with the comedian - Seinfeld starred in the company's 2012 Super Bowl ad alongside the NSX supercar concept. So perhaps it's no surprise that it has signed on to sponsor 24 episodes of the series, due to roll out this year and next. Naturally, with any title sponsorship these days, you can expect to see some integration of the sponsor - in this case, Acura says such measures will involve its new 2014 MDX crossover, integrating "short, contextually relevant ads at the beginning and end of the episode."

Sabin Schmitz vs Ron Simons at the Nurburgring Video

We hope you have seven minutes to kill. RSR Nürburgring recently took the time to pit Sabine Schmitz and her slightly modified Porsche 911 GT3 RS against Ron Simons and his Ferrari 458 Italia in a sparring match around the infamous Green Hell. The clip begins with the two drivers engaging in a smidgeon of smack talk before the two get down to the business of beating each other's doors off around one of the most challenging courses in the world. Simons calls his car superior to Schmitz's 911, while Schmitz says she's up against nothing more than a Fiat driven by an old Dutch man.

Don't hold any punches, you two.

We won't spoil the finale for you, but we will say the tango is worth watching. At the end, the loser calls for a rematch. We can't wait to see that throwdown. Check out the clip below for yourself.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's department is currently investigating Justin Bieber for reckless driving. Fox News reports neighbours complained after the performer allegedly began traveling through his gated community at highway speeds. Several witnesses have come forward, including former NFL player Keyshawn Johnson. The community has a speed limit of 40 km/h (25 miles per hour).

Deputies plan to send a reckless driving report to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. When that happens, the office will determine whether or not to bring charges against Bieber. In the meantime, a friend of Bieber's has came to his aid on Twitter. A rapper named Tyler, the Creator tweeted over the weekend, "That Was Me Behind The Wheel Of Justins Vehicle. Don't Blame Him. People Are Actually Evil Swearing Up And Down That It Was Who It Wasnt."

The performer's handlers have repeatedly asked him to stop driving after a number of incidents behind the wheel. Back in March, someone complained about Bieber's erratic driving through the Calbasas community, and the complaint led to an altercation. In May, the monkey'd one reportedly received six speeding tickets on the way to his own concert in Dubai. And last year, Bieber was seen pulled over in his chrome Fisker Karma by the LAPD, reportedly for doing over 160 km/h (100 mph) down the 101 freeway.

Vin Diesel FF6 Singapore interview

The moral of the story: "Don't buy cars in Singapore!" That little nugget of knowledge comes courtesy of Fast and Furious 6 action star Vin Diesel, who came to the realization after learning that a Toyota Prius rings the registers at an astounding $154,000 in US funds (CAD $159,000). Other notable vehicles that shock and awe the cast of FF6 include the Subaru BRZ at $130,000 USD (CAD $134,000) and the BMW 6 Series Coupe (engine not specified) that empties the Singaporean wallet to the tune of $330,000 USD (CAD $340,000). "That's gnarly!" announces Michelle Rodriguez, who reprises her role as Letty in the flick. Luke Evans, who plays the villain Owen Shaw, is similarly surprised to find out that a Honda Accord costs $130,000 USD (CAD $134,000) in Singapore.

Why the ludicrous pricing? Well, according to the video below, much of the high cost of cars in Singapore is due to taxes designed to discourage the purchase of automobiles on account of traffic concerns. The solution, according to the government of the small island nation, is to make cars so expensive through the use of what's known as a COE, or Certificate of Entitlement, that nobody (except the very rich, of course) wants to buy one. It sounds like Sebastian Vettel has had his hands full recently, juggling his Formula One racing career while moonlighting as the newly appointed director of performance at Infiniti. On that latter note, Autocar is reporting that Vettel has been testing a production version of the Etherea Concept at France's Circuit Paul Ricard.

There is still no word as to when we could see this car go into production or what it will be called (possibly the Q30), but it will likely share a platform with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class as a part of the Daimler/Renault-Nissan collaboration. The article also said that this future entry-level Infiniti would be produced at Nissan's Sunderland, UK plant.

Paul Walker Lexus LFA

For most vehicles, eclipsing the 48,000 km (30,000-mile) mark isn't much to celebrate. With modern vehicles fully capable of sailing right past the 400,000 km (around 250,000-mile) line with just basic, regular maintenance, the wee 48k is as common as coffee.

But that's not the case for supercars like the Lexus LFA. The limited-production machines are more likely to be museum pieces than commuter cars. That's what makes the fact that Lexus has not one, but two LFA models with over 48,000 km (30,000 miles) on the clock so special. Paul Walker recently met the dynamic duo out at Willow Springs Raceway.

Walker seems impressed with the two supercars after hammering around the Streets course, saying the ultra rare, high-mileage LFA examples feel as quick and sturdy as they did when the left the factory. Lexus says the cars have both only received their equal shares of regular maintenance. Catch the video of both cars on track below along with a few words from Walker.

Fans of oddball cars rarely get much gratification from mainstream Hollywood films. A TVR Tuscan Speed Six in 2001's fairly forgettable Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, John Travolta actioner Swordfish is about all that comes to mind recently. For the most part, the Fast & Furious series has followed the formula of serving up familiar cars from the US and Japan. Until now that is. The sixth installment, which set records at the box office this past Memorial Day weekend, features a few notable eccentricities, including a 1978 Ford Mark I Escort, an LS7-powered Lister and everybody's favorite tough chick, Letty Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez), driving a Jensen Interceptor of all things.

The few sites out there that cater to the fishbowl-backed, Mopar-powered British coupe probably can't handle the traffic they got this past weekend, so to save their servers, we'll give you a bit of information on the Interceptor. In full disclosure, I'm an owner of a '73 Interceptor that several of my colleagues infamously drove from Arizona to St. Louis in a trouble-plagued delivery run/magazine story.

Traditionally, the key to a man's heart has been through his stomach, or so the old wives' tale goes. But the key to a brand-spanking new Mercedes Benz G55 AMG could also unlock a man's heart - and this belief has been exercised by a Saudi Arabian woman who gifted a copy of AMG's finest ute-metal in hopes of capturing an Arabian male model's attention.

It turns out that this was a gift granted in pity - Omar Borkan Gala, the new owner of the G55 AMG, was gifted the SUV after being deported by Saudi Arabian religious police for being "too handsome." The Dubai native was visiting a festival in Riyadh, the Saudi Arabian capital, when he was approached by authorities and asked forced to leave because the religious police "feared women could fall for [him] on the grounds [that he is] too handsome." In a political quagmire, an alternative would be forcing him to wear a burka, which would not be in step with his male modeling career.

News of Gala's expulsion from the Gulf Kingdom spread quickly and about a month after the incident Gala heard a knock at the door. A new AMG product was waiting outside. "I got a Mercedes G55 for my birthday from a woman I didn't know. It came to my place, and I was told, 'Just sign and take it.' That's amazing!" Gala's words remind us why it's worth answering the door every time you hear the door-bell.

According to InTouch Gossip Weekly, Gala is fleshing out his career in the entertainment world, currently working as a poet, model and upcoming film star. Reports of Gala's surprise gift (and unfortunate deportation from Saudi Arabia) have gone viral and his personal facebook page has been inundated with messages of support from fans around the world. This should propel his career forward with roughly the same thrust as his new V8 sport utility serves up.

Lots of contact, debris cautions, trips into the wall, full-course yellows and a red flag - these are the kinds of racing terms you unbox when you want to have a conversation about NASCAR... or the Formula One grand prix of Monaco. In this case we're not talking about the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, we're talking about 78 laps in the South of France that even featured a fallen camera cable just like that stock-car race.

This year, Mercedes-AMG Petronas drivers treated their chassis' like busses instead of F1 cars, Romain Grosjean treated his Lotus like a battering ram, Sergio Perez kept sticking his McLaren's nose in places and eventually got it smacked, and maybe the size of the drivers' mirrors should be changed instead of the tires as there were almost as many firsts as there were crashes. Plenty of F1 fans wish Monaco were removed from the calendar, yet even though it doesn't specialize in traditional thrills, that doesn't mean nothing happens during the parade through - and into - the barriers.

Comedian Adam Carolla is a very unique car collector, especially when compared to some of his peers. Those other well-known "Hollywood" automotive enthusiasts, who include Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld, are often spotted on public roads driving priceless cars from their private collections. But not Carolla.

Two years ago, when we visited Carolla's Southern California home, we were awestruck by his pristine Datsun Camel GT pace car, Bob Sharp Racing IMSA 300ZX and his custom Datsun Roadster 1600. In another corner, we took cloth covers off a gorgeous 1967 Lamborghini 400 GT 2+2 and a Lamborghini Miura.

While most of us would jump at the opportunity to tool around in any one of those classics, Carolla recently told eBay Motors that he has no interest in mimicking fellow stars like Leno. He doesn't relish the attention expensive machinery garners, and there is always the chance something is going to break. Even worse, the accomplished vintage racer said that the streets of Los Angeles are chock full of cops - that takes all of the fun out of nailing an apex at speed.

So Carolla's collection will remain, in perfect condition, stored for his own admiration. His daily commute, grocery errands and trips to the studio will be run in standard production vehicles - they draw fewer eyes. Don't ask him to change, either, or he'll give you something to think about: "Does anyone ask a stamp collector if he uses his stamps to mail in his gas bill?"

Jeremy Clarkson driving homebuilt dragster-like thing

You might think that Jeremy Clarkson has run out of groups to offend, but the Top Gear frontman remains as unfiltered and unbowed as ever, this time calling for British Airways to deposit traveling young children in with the luggage under its planes. After a flight to Scotland, the irascible Brit quipped, "When will British Airways realize that babies belong in the hold?" via Twitter. The tweet prompted equal quantities of laughter, outrage and support from those who follow him on the social media service. Acknowledging the controversy, Clarkson would later follow up by noting, "Mine didn't fly till they were old enough to behave."

Predictably, British Airways has responded by reiterating that all are welcome in its airplane cabins, but Clarkson's musing has also triggered widespread support for the notion of child-free air travel - on Twitter and beyond. And as the Telegraph notes, at least one airline realizes that for some travelers, there is real appeal to the idea: Malaysia's Air X airlines recently introduced select routes with seating areas where occupants must be 12 years or older. BAIC Nicholas Cage

BAIC has officially pulled the covers off of its new Senova D Series sedan for China. The four-door is based on the old Saab 9-5 and boasts a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. Local buyers can get their hands on the machine for around US$22,745 at current conversion rates. Other engine options include a turbocharged 1.8-litre comes standard on every trim except the very base model. Those goodies include a tire pressure monitoring system, active head restraints, blind spot detection, driver fatigue detection and parking sensors.

The Senova nameplate serves every model based on former Saab architectures, including the Epsilon, GM2900 and GM2400 platforms as well as engine and transmission tech. In order to promote its new products, BAIC has hired Hollywood staple Nicolas Cage to serve as the company's brand ambassador. Cage stars in the Senova-heavy Town of Car Legends action-packed video short (directed by Olivier Megaton of Transporter 3 and Taken 2 fame) which you can watch by scrolling below.
