Dude Perfect Fiat 500 stunt driving

These dudes are perfect, which, we surmise, is why their YouTube channel is called Dude Perfect. But we digress. In their latest video, Dude Perfect performs some amazing trick shots with footballs, basketballs and baseballs, along with a trio of Fiat 500C Abarth convertibles. It's perfect, dude.

Joining the dudes this week are stunt drivers Roger Richman and Samuel Hubinette from LA Motorsports, and some of their coolest tricks wouldn't be possible without some equally precise driving. Looks like they had a total blast, but remember, these guys are professionals and performed their tricks on a closed course. In other words... do not try this at home.

Father's Day Plymouth

They met in high school. Bev was a cheerleader, Joe played sports. The pair got married, and the first car they shared, driving off into their mutual futures together on their wedding day, was a 1948 Plymouth convertible. As is often the case with first cars - and especially cars as classically stylish and memorable as the Plymouth - they were left with nothing but fond memories after being forced to sell the car after Joe was drafted into the military.

Fast forward 60 years and their son has pulled off a brilliant surprise. The result of which is summed up rather nicely by Bev herself: "Uh oh. Grandpa's got tears." And you may, too. Scroll down below to see the video, produced and shared by Hagerty, for yourself.

The pricing for the 2014 Infiniti Q50 were revealed a couple months ago, and now InfinitiQ50.org has uncovered leaked order guides for Infiniti's all-new luxury sedan as well as the renamed Q60 Coupe and Convertible.

From the looks of things, if you'd like a rear-wheel drive Q50, you may have to have to special order it. All three Q50 RWD models say "Sold Order Only" on the model, mix and MSRP page. As for the Q60 models, the only differences for the 2014 model year - aside for the new name, of course - are related to exterior coloring. A new Venetian Ruby hue is being added to the palette.

Season Two of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee kicked this week in style. How much more style is there to be had than in a 1969 Jaguar XKE, after all? This time around, Seinfeld and Sarah Silverman spend some time driving around in the "slinky, sexy" Jag, talking comedy and then grabbing breakfast.

In addition to the kickoff of the show's second season, this episode also represents the start of a 24-episode sponsorship with Acura. The original deal promised short ads at the beginning and end of each episode, but this time around, Seinfeld "stumbles upon" a 2014 Acura RLX, which is obviously - and admittedly - the work of product integration. We've just received news that the same guy who called the Koenigsegg Agera R a "piece of *expletive*, " is none other than the same guy who just crashed a rental McLaren MP4-12C during the goldRush Rally yesterday afternoon.

For those of you who haven't heard of the goldRush Rally, think of it as a smaller scale Gumball 3000 (but don't mention "smaller" when describing it to its participants). It's basically an occasion where well-to-do people from across North America meet up to party like Rock Stars all night and drive high dollar supercars and tuner cars from Chicago to San Francisco over the course of a week.

Ben Chen, of Massachusetts, was ripping across Interstate 30 at a high rate of speed near Mt. Vernon, East Texas, when he suddenly lost control of his McLaren roadster rental. According to Chen, a large truck pulled in front of him in the left passing lane as he was blasting along, so he thought it would be a good idea to drive into the centre median. He was then spotted whipping from the left lane to the right lane and then into a ditch and under a fence! No, it doesn't end there. The speeding $250,000 MP4-12C then caught some serious air and plowed into Discount Storage, where it finally came to a stop and met its untimely death.

Both Chen and his passenger escaped uninjured (ego aside), and Chen was issued a ticket for Reckless Driving (our Ontario equivalent is a Dangerous Driving charge). TVR, the British cottage industry builder of hair-on-fire, purists' sports cars like the Sagaris, Tuscan, and Cerbera flamed out in spectacular fashion back in 2006, leaving a hole in the the hearts of enthusiasts far larger than its meager output might suggest. The company behind the brilliantly characterful but never-quite pretty, never-quite reliable sports cars with their far-flung ergonomics and bite-the-hand-that-feeds-you dynamics has been the subject of intermittent resurrection rumors since production ceased in 2006. Yet last July, Nikolai Smolensky, the marque's owner, seemed to close the books on the brand once and for all when he said that building a new TVR didn't make financial sense. Instead, it's understood that the Russian plutocrat wanted to build... wind turbines.

But now, it appears that the fibreglass-bodied carmaker may be poised for a revival after all. Auto Express reports that the TVR brand has a new owner, a British businessman by the name of Les Edgar, who purchased the rights to the TVR name and to the equipment and parts to build the brand's existing cars for an undisclosed sum. There's no word yet on what the four-wheeled future of TVR looks like (rumors of an all-new model with Ferrari-like performance at half the price have been dismissed), but Edgar and Co. are apparently keen to reignite the fires at the brand, having even gone so far as to update the company's website with the image above - previously the splash page for the site displayed the TVR logo with the words "never say never."

Of course, TVR has had its share of aborted comebacks before, so we won't hold our breath for its undoubtedly theatrical return. If they do manage to return, we hope they'll be welcomed back with open arms - the world needs more undistilled, unvarnished, uncompromising and overpowered sports cars, right? Detroit Electric SP:01

Startup EV-maker Detroit Electric is having a little trouble getting out of the gate, according to a report in The Detroit News. The (obviously) Detroit-based automaker says production of its SP:01 sports car (pictured) will be delayed by at least a month, citing problems with securing a manufacturing facility.

When the SP:01 debuted in early April, Detroit Electric executives told members of the media that a facility in the metro Detroit area would be used to produce the SP:01. The Detroit News reports that the company is currently in talks with a partially occupied space in Plymouth Township and that it hopes to reach an agreement soon. Production is now scheduled to begin in September, with an annual production capacity of 2,500 units. The facility will also employ more than 100 new workers.

Detroit Electric is hoping to sell 999 of its SP:01 sports cars at US$135,000 a pop. The company, which has largely been funded by private investors, also plans to launch sedan and hatchback models in the coming years, thanks to a partnership with China's Geely.

When it comes to stunt driving mayhem, crazy burnouts, dangerous drifting and ghost riding the whip, drivers in the Middle East (including the one in this video) have been showing the world how it's done for years. Being big fans of the classic BMW E30 too, we simply couldn't resist sharing the ridiculous drift and ghost riding antics recorded in this insane video.

Although the clip we stumbled upon seems to be a few years old, we really can't believe the footage of this Arab stunter and his mighty BMW E30 somehow managed to slip past us (especially since it was originally uploaded back in 2011). When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.

Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.

The Chevrolet Corvette, Jaguar F-Type and Porsche 911 all belong to a club that shuns the Maserati GranTurismo as an outsider. You see, those three key sports cars all measure within an inch of one another in length - 176 to 177 inches and change - while the Maserati comes in at over 4877mm (192 inches). Naturally, there's extra length between its wheels, as well.

While those extra inches would seemingly pay dividends in interior roominess and storage space, those are not exactly the most important attributes in the segment, which values proper proportions and proper driving feel over all else. All of this is why it comes as little surprise that Maserati is working on a smaller version of its two-door sports car platform when the next generation is ready in roughly three years.

According to Motor Trend and echoing rumours we've heard in the past, the smaller model will be known as the Gran Sport while a larger model will still be called GranTurismo in coupe form and GranCabrio in convertible guise. We're told, again, to expect Maserati's new 404-horsepower supercharged V6 engine as standard, while the V8 would still be a possible option.

When it comes to building custom cars, there's usually a right way and very wrong way to do things. The proud owner selling this turbocharged 1995 Chevy Camaro Z28 convertible kind of falls into the latter category, as his oddly placed turbo set-up can be seen sitting inside the actual car... installed and fully operational in the back seat?! Crazy stuff.

The hilarious, yet serious classified ad goes on to strangely describe, "the floor board where the rear passengers seat would be is slightly cut out and the turbo mounts there. There's a carpeted and insulated box around it (that looks like a homemade subwoofer box) so its not exposed inside the car." Great to know it was built so to such high attention to safety standards, cause that would otherwise sound pretty hacked up and dangerous death trap (insert eye roll here).

This crazy Camaro is not for the faint of heart either, as the seller goes on to explain "I tried to dyno the car with the new engine a couple months ago, long story short the floor mat got pushed under the gas pedal and the data logs show it only hit 43% throttle and they stopped at 5,200 rpm. Still made 436whp. At 100% throttle it should be capable of 520+whp on the current fuel system @8psi. With bigger injectors the motor could safely go to 12psi and theoretically break 600whp."

It's been a number of years since we last heard rumours about a drop-top Kia, but as the South Korean automaker continues to grow into new segments, why not stir things up again? Fan site Kia-world.net got its hands on what is claimed to be an exclusive drawing (click to enlarge) of the Kia Pro_cee'd GT Cabrio.

This rendering looks exactly like what we'd picture a topless version of the three-door hatchback to look like, but until there's any official information, we'll keep this filed under "we'll believe it when we see it." The idea of a Kia convertible sounds good to us, especially if it looks like this, but we're still waiting for the sporty model that lead designer Peter Schreyer said could happen "sooner or later" back in 2010.

2013 Lotus Exige S Roadster - front three-quarter view, blue

The first thing you need to know is that this is the Lotus Exige S Roadster, unchanged from the Exige S even in price and officially the fastest convertible Lotus has ever made. The second thing you need to know is that if you live in North America, you won't be getting this car.

Now that that's out of the way, the lack of a roof, rear wing and front splitter help make it 10 kilograms (22 pounds) lighter than the coupe, coming in a 1,205 kilos (2,565 pounds), and the supercharged 3.5-litre V6 in this topless blossom discharges 345 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. For historical comparison with a non-convertible, those numbers nearly match the 2004 Lotus Esprit V8 Final Run edition - which had twin Garrett turbochargers. Yet the Exige S gets from a stoplight to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in 3.8 seconds, nearly a full second quicker than that Esprit. Fair play, though, the Esprit did weigh 1,370 kilos (3,040 pounds).

It will be fitted with a six-speed manual only, and cost 52,900 pounds (CAD$82,560), 55,378 euros (CAD$74,011) or 8,500,000 yen (CAD$86,887), depending on where you live. Here in North America, we'll be sticking with the track-only Exige V6 Cup and Cup R models. The press release and video below offers more on the fine points.

2014 Jaguar F-Type roadster - top down, front three-quarter view

As we noted in our recent first drive, Jaguar's luscious new F-Type roadster is a bit of a tweener in both size and cost, lining up in between rival Porsche's Boxster and 911. That one-for-two-segment strategy is showing early signs of paying off, with Automotive News reporting that half of the car's 2014 production allotment is already sold. We're not talking huge numbers - sports cars in this segment only "have a global annual volume of about 75,000 units and a market share of 0.1 percent," notes Jaguar brand director Adrian Hallmark. Yet the company figures the F-Type will work out to about 15 to 20 per cent of its total volume of around 60,000 units.

From where we sit, this is all very encouraging news, but it's way too early to call the F-Type a smash hit. The sports car segment is known for its fickleness and its front-loaded sales curve, so the real measure of success will be how it fares over the next few years after early adopters get their cars. Jaguar will have to work to keep the F-Type fresh with new variants, and we hear it's prepared to do just that. The British luxury marque hasn't confirmed a hardtop coupe variant yet, but patent images and spy shots suggest one is on the way shortly, and it ought to extend the model's appeal greatly. A four-cylinder option and a manual transmission have also been rumoured, and presumably Jaguar will eventually launch higher-performance R and R-S variants as it has done with various model lines, including its other sporty two door, the XK grand tourer.

What's the word auto journos are looking for when they talk about what's missing in modern supercars? "Thrill." In general, modern motoring marvels are a lot more driveable, a lot more comfortable, a lot more reliable and a lot better at what they do than they used to be. But they're less thrilling than they used to be, and that's the sensation Chris Harris sets out to experience in a rolling test of the Morgan 3 Wheeler and the Caterham Seven Supersport.

The Morgan has a 2.0-litre motorcycle engine with about 115 horsepower, but with - according to Chris - "hilarious handling" and a "lovely geabox," it is "an event" that is "more alive at 55 km/h (34 miles per hour) than a 911 Turbo at 193 km/h (120 mph)." And Harris believes the Caterham, with just 182 hp and a five-speed gearbox, should be driven by any automaker trying to make a sports car or even inject more sportiness into one of its offerings.

Harris will be happy to personally explain where and how each roadster delivers its thrills in the video below.

With an official top speed of 328 kilometres per hour (207 miles per hour), there's no reason to ever think of the McLaren MP4-12C Spider as anything like "slow." In fact, with that top end over the critical 322 km/h (200-mph) mark thanks to its whopper of a 616-horsepower, twin-turbo V8, the topless Mac is in a very small club of road-going automobiles.

What's more, with the ability to hit the three-century mark being such a critical statistic for an exotic car, and with each digit over 300 km/h coming a very high cost, we except the manufacturer ratings to be about as optimistic as they can be.

Which is why we find this video so remarkable. In the two-minute video from German publication Sport Auto, we see mostly the speedometer of a McLaren MP4-12C Spider, just touching a speed of 346 kilometers per hour, or just under 215 miles per hour. In the description of the video, Sport Auto alludes to some kind of GPS verification of hitting 343 km/h, or just over 213 mph. Not only is that 14 km/h (nine miles per hour) faster than the Spiders stated v-max, but also 10 km/h (six mph) faster than the MP4-12C coupe's top of 328 km/h (207 mph).

Is the video evidence legit? It's hard to say. But you can see and judge for yourself by watching the clip, just below.

The Audi RS5 is a bit of an odd duck in the brand's North America lineup. At the moment it is one of only two RS models - the other being the TT RS - atop a pyramid of A and higher-performing S models. It is not, however, the brand's flagship performance model (not even close), that space being occupied by variants of the R8 supercar, specifically the V10 and GT models, and upcoming 560-horsepower RS7.

The RS5 does, however, owe its beating heart to those ten-cylinder R8s, its own 4.2-litre V8 almost identical to those engines save for two fewer cylinders. Outside of the R8, then, the RS5 is the lone bastion of naturally aspirated V8 power in a brand that once happily shoved 4.2-litre V8s under any hood that they would fit. Today, not even the giant Q7 SUV offers a V8. Lastly, the RS5 is not new, except to us, having been on sale in Europe in coupe form the last couple of years.

While Europeans were able to enjoy the hardtop two-door without us, the RS5 Cabriolet is reaching both peoples around the same time: now. We reviewed the RS5 coupe just recently, and having spent some time with the tin-top model myself as well, here is my take on the droptop version of what we consider one of Audi's most interesting models.

Aston Martin is popping the bubbly and launching a new concept car to celebrate their centenial. Aston's brightest unleashed their creative juices to create a modern sports car that harkens back to Aston Martin racers of yore. The resultant retro-styled speedster that found form is nothing short of breath-taking - particularly for any fans of the British marque.

The CC100 draws upon design cues from the Le Mans winning DBR1 race car. It's powered by a 6.0-litre V12, which is capable of propelling it to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a hair over 4 seconds. Thanks to it's light-weight carbon-fibre body and dual-clutch transmission, the CC100 is at home on the racetrack. Top speed is limited to 289 km/h (180 mph). The body is almost 4.5 metres long and more than two metres wide, including the mirrors.

The below video shows the creation of the CC100 from paper to racetrack. You'll want to watch it until the end, where you'll find hear a special treat from Aston Martin's V12 engine builders. The music soundtrack's not bad either.

Maserati grille

As a following act to the redesigned Quattroporte and the recently unveiled 2014 Maserati Ghibli, Maserati will be releasing a slew of new products in the coming years, including the next-generation GranTurismo, the all-new Levante SUV and a new 911-fighting coupe - possibly called Gran Sport. While all of this information was detailed last year in a leaked product plan document, there were no dates associated with any of the new products. Auto Express is now reporting that the new GranTurismo will be out in 2015 and the new smaller coupe is expected out in 2016.

According to the report, the new coupe will be smaller and sportier than the GranTurismo, and it will feature a mid-engine layout with a platform that isn't shared with the Alfa Romeo 4C. This product onslaught is a part of Maserati's plan to increase sales to 50,000 units globally by 2015.

McLaren is rolling out special editions of the company's MP4-12C Coupe and Spyder supercars to commemorate its 50th anniversary. Produced by McLaren Special Operations, the cars will feature a new front fascia with additional downforce as well as carbon-fibre trimmed air inlets. Engineers also shed a few pounds from the machine by crafting the floorboard in carbon Kevlar. Each anniversary edition comes with carbon ceramic brakes as standard equipment as well as a set of bespoke, ultralight 19-inch wheels painted Satin Black. McLaren says the rollers are a full 2 kg (4.4 pounds) lighter than the stock wheels, combined.

Inside, buyers will find a full leather interior, and the anniversary editions will only be available in one of three colours. Those with the cash can choose between Carbon Black, Supernova Silver or McLaren Orange. We'll have ours in the latter, please. McLaren will kindly ask for £196,000 ($262,692 CAD) for the coupe and £215,500 ($288,828 CAD, at current conversion rates) for the McLaren 50 12C Spider.
