It looks like crime certainly didn't pay for these outrageous gas station thieves, as shocking surveillance video caught this amateur Australian couple getting all tangled up at the pumps. The foolish thieves failed to make a clean getaway after filling up for free and poorly planning their big escape.

The rather funny video footage shows the driver suddenly speed off from the gas station while leaving their partner in crime behind to take the fall (literally), as a woman gets tangled in the pump and then tossed through the air during the dangerous getaway. We're all taught you shouldn't steal (or leave the scene of a crime for that matter), but deciding to ditch your accomplice in the act is certainly a large piece of walking and talking evidence to leave for police.

McDonald's drive-thru

If you're going to drive a stolen car in a small town of roughly 77,000 people you want to be very careful about where you drive that stolen car to eat. That's the lesson Katherine York of Kennewick, Washington learned when she was arrested for being in possession of a stolen Toyota 4Runner that also happened to have a bunch of stolen clothes from JC Penney and Sears in it!

Virginia Maiden woke up Tuesday, May 14 to find her 1995 4Runner - that she thought she forgot to lock - swiped from her apartment building. At 3 PM that afternoon, while working her shift at the drive-thru at McDonald's that day, she saw her truck in line. York hadn't even gone far - the McDonald's is not even five miles from Maiden's apartment. Maiden called the police, they showed up just as York was leaving, and York made another vehicle switch, this time into a black-and-white for a trip to the Benton County jail. They don't have McDonald's there, but she won't have so far to go to eat.

2012 Lexus LFA supercar at sunset

What do you do if you have enough money to buy a Lexus LFA but can't get the car safely to your house? Get local government involved, of course. Rune Berge Vik, of Stavanger, Norway, did just that after he bought a Lexus LFA (the only LFA in the Nordic region according to tv2.no) last year only to find out that it could not clear a speed bump in his neighborhood.

To remedy the situation, Vik got in touch with his city, which had the speed bump removed. Talk about your tax dollars hard at work. On the other hand, it's commendable that the man actually uses his supercar as a daily driver, and besides, doesn't a street-legal car have the right to access said public streets?

After the Good-Samaritan-fest that was the last Russian dash cam video, it's back to our regularly scheduled program of sneaky scamming and automotive madness. This time, it's a woman who attempts to pretend she's been hit by a car and rendered unconscious, the same tired con-job that happens to be one of the primary reasons that Russians probably perform more surveillance on themselves than the state does.

It's a remarkably bad job of method acting on the woman's part (is she drunk?), but we'll give her credit for persistence. The worst acting job you'll see all day is on video just below.

Coulthard and Vettel drive Infiniti M sedans on the site of Russia's future grand prix circuit

The next Winter Olympics will happen in Sochi, Russia from February 7-23, 2014. Sometime after that, barring any delays, a portion of the Sochi Olympic Park will be turned into the Sochi Olympic Park Circuit, a 5.9 km (3.65-mile) track for the first Russian Grand Prix in 100 years (the last of two Formula One grands prix were held in St. Petersburg).

As we've come to expect from the Infiniti Red Bull team, it recently sent race driver Sebastian Vettel and brand ambassador David Coulthard to the unfinished venue to run the route in Infiniti M sedans and offer some impressions. With average cornering speeds above 100 km/h, Coulthard called it a fast street circuit in the Monaco vein. You can watch them try it out - yes, that's Vettel gone airborne above - and avoid a "White Van Man" in the awesome video below.

Peugeot Climb Dance Pikes Peak film - remastered screencap

Climb Dance, the rally-porn film celebrating the Pikes Peak Hill Climb victories of Ari Vatanen in 1988 and Robby Unser in 1989 - and including footage from both drives - has been remastered in high definition. It was commissioned by Peugeot, maker of the four-wheel steering 415 T16 Grand Raid, the racecar that took both drivers to the top to overall victories.

Peugeot will be hoping that Sébastien Loeb can climb dance the same way next month when he runs up the now-paved mountain in his 208. You'll find the breathtaking remastered Climb Dance video below, as well as tribute the Motor Trend made with Marcus Gronholm in a Ford Fiesta back in 2009. Enjoy.

The driver of a small Nissan pickup truck has some explaining to do after getting stuck... in a tree. Most versatile off-road trucks are found stuck in deep mud or snow, but this utilitarian beast was found stuck in an evergreen grove.

Police responded to reports of the tree-climbing truck and found it still in place, clinging to the branches about 3 metres (10 feet) above the ground. The driver was no where to be found, and the vehicle's engine and exhaust system was cold, telling police that the vehicle had been there for some time, undiscovered.

Recreating the scene, it appears the driver of the small truck was traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control and 'jumped' a large ditch, which put him on a trajectory that landed him, well... up a tree. The driver later returned to the scene during the police investigation ("Where'd I leave my wallet?") and was charged with 'hit and run' and criminal mischief citations. This unlikely tale unfolded in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Speaking of the police, an officer found himself in a similar predicament when he pulled a U-turn to make a seatbelt related traffic stop, lost control, and hit the guide-wire of a telephone pole. The front bumper of his cruiser followed the wire up the pole, leaving the Dodge police car scampering up the pole like a spooked squirrel. Thankfully, this Memphis police officer was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the incident - no word if the seatbelt-less driver of the car he was attempting to pull over noticed all the commotion behind him.

We certainly have sympathy for this hapless driver who had a difficult time leaving a Wits University parking lot in Johannesburg, South Africa. The lot is overcrowded and probably beyond capacity, making the driver's efforts to turn down its lanes an exercise in futility and frustration.

It doesn't help that the camera operator and his friends offer nothing but colourful (read: explicit, hence the NSFW warning) commentary. They refer to the driver as being female, but it's not possible to tell from the video's perspective which sex was responsible for bungling the dozen-plus-point turnaround.

Volkswagen Stop Start Ad

Babies and cars go together like screaming blobs of insomnia and sleep machines. New parents quickly find that nothing soothes an irritable newborn quite like a quick drive around the block, and Volkswagen employed that truth in the company's newest ad for its stop/start technology. The spot follows one new dad as he tries to lull his child to sleep with the burble and purr of his Tiguan TDI. Unfortunately, his efforts are thwarted by the machine's start/stop system at each stop light.

While the video does a great job of explaining how the start/stop system works and what it does for the buyer, Volkswagen took a bit of a gamble by having the system wake a sleeping baby. Automakers spend plenty of time trying to convince the world that their stop/start gear is as smooth as possible, and while this wee Volkswagen enthusiast falls asleep the moment the diesel engine wakes up, the implication is that the system isn't exactly imperceptible.

An impromptu gas-station musical erupted at a Costco gas station when TV host Tim Stack started talking to a patron of the gas station through the small ad TV above the fuel pump. Luckily for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno host, this unsuspecting customer was no ordinary man of the pump, but a soulful, fun-loving bar-tender and avid karaoke singer who was happy to play along.

Not long into the musical fossil-fuel filling, Will Sims, our favourite gas-pumper, brought his wife Monifa onto the concrete stage. The resulting duet brought other curious patrons around to see what was causing the song-and-dance commotion.

The Sims couple's zest for life and playful attitude during this spontaneous karaoke interaction so impressed Jay Leno that he decided to have both Will and Monifa on his show to perform for his live audience. We can't help but wonder if the Sims' next calling will be to write a marriage guide-book as it's abundantly clear from the video that this couple has got it right, and couldn't be happier after 12 years of marriage. Watching Monifa's interaction with her husband is downright hilarious and when she cuts to her "dance-break" it's easy to see that this fitness instructor is not to be outdone by her husband.

For some reason, having unlikely rappers - like minivan-driving suburbanites or British mothers - spit about their rides is still a catchy advertising hook, even in other cultures. Far more so, we're guessing, than having P. Diddy sing about his dog and his pickup truck or a Brazilian street gang doing a Celtic dirge, for example.

And that's how you get three grandmothers ridin' dirty clean in a Mitsubishi i electric vehicle. The ad for the Belgian car sharing company Cambio - promoting the i in its fleet - gets the three "omaatjes" rolling through town in veteran hip-hop fashion, right down to the police once-over.

Convocation of eagles attacking bag of fish guts in a pickup truck in Alaska - video still

Let this be a lesson to those of you who plan to visit Unalaska, Alaska (yes, it's a real city on Unalaska Island in the Aleutian Islands): If you park at Safeway with a garbage bag full of fish fillets in your pickup's bed, the eagles will find you. That's what happened above when an unidentified man parked his Nissan and returned to find a convocation of bald eagles feasting on his fish.

Neither the man nor those parked near his truck could get to their cars for fear of getting a beatdown from The 'Murica Bird, and police were called to break it up, which they did with neither beast nor fowl injured in the process.

Other than being awesome watching, other things we can take away from this video are the question who comes up with bird gathering names (a "murmuration" of herons and an "unkindness" of ravens?), and the bounty of this comment left by user "Abraham" at the KUCB news report: "It's just that the luxury edition has so much more eagle, it saddens me to think of you missing out." You'd think that by now British Columbia auto enthusiasts would have learned from the many stories of car seizures we've reported on over the past few years, but another group of 20-25 year old boys have become the latest victim of BC's 40km/h and over impound law. The group was called in to Squamish RCMP, and Air One, one of the Lower Mainland Traffic Safety Helicopters was called in to tail them until West Vancouver PD could intercept. Under normal circumstances we suppose the term "young men" might have been appropriate, but after hearing the excuse used by one of the drivers it is clear that adulthood for these individuals is still a ways away.

Of all the stupid excuses we have heard for speeding over the years, from "My wife is in labour" to "My speedometer doesn't work", we were a bit surprised to hear this new one. The driver in question claims that he was speeding because his temporary insurance was set to run out at midnight, and that "with great friends I had with me, they decided to try and get home with me and not leave me to fend for myself." There are so many things to pick apart from his defence that we don't know where to start other than if he were to have an accident while speeding home, does he really think his insurance would cover his reckless driving?

The group is reported to have been driving a cluster of Nissan 240SX, as well as a Nissan Skyline, Toyota MR2, and an Acura Integra which were all reported to be "in various stages of modification". Revscene forum members are quick to tout some high performance mods, but based on the verbiage used by the West Van Police, we wouldn't be surprised if we're talking lowering springs and mufflers at this point. It is also noted that one vehicle was sporting a "I Heart Drifting" bumper sticker at the time of the incident.

Ever wondered if a Nissan GT-R could conquer an icy ski slope? Well prepare to be amazed, as this stunning video captures a camo-clad GT-R tearing up the beautiful snow covered scenery at a ski resort in Kåbdalis, Sweden.

The slippery ski slopes prove to be no match for the powerful GT-R, as the video shows the mighty Nissan making quick work of an incredible uphill climb as it blasts through loads of fresh white powder!

According to the video's description, it took two days to shoot and the film crew had a blast ripping around on snowmobiles, picking up attractive female hitch-hikers and obviously hooning around the GT-R in Northern Sweden.

This Nevada cop was caught red handed by an impressive 12-year-old boy who busted him for illegally parking his motorcycle on a sidewalk in Las Vegas. Thanks to the kid's quick thinking and his camera phone, we can now enjoy watching the police officer outsmarted in a battle of wits with a well spoken young boy named Jeremy.

Watch things heat up as the boy confronts the big gulp drinking officer and asks if there was an emergency in the area which required his motorized vehicle to be parked on the sidewalk? After refusing to respond to the question, the irritated officer hops onto his patrol bike and asks, "What are you, a junior lawyer?" to which the boy politely replies, "No, I just want to see your badge number." Zing!

Here's a prediction: If you're an adult that thinks Micro Machines were cool (and maybe still are) and has an affinity for stop motion animation, you're probably already familiar with Adult Swim's Robot Chicken. There's a super-geeky Venn diagram to be made here (wait... is there any other kind of Venn diagram?), were our full-time infographics illustrator not on strike.

In any event, the mad minds and steady modeling hands behind the stop motion Robot Chicken are the talented group that call themselves The League of Buddies, and their business Stoopid Buddy Studios. It might be that Cartoon Network needs to come up with some more work for the animators, as they've clearly had some time on their hands to work on projects like this: an action-packed stop-motion short called Micro Mayhem!.

We could try to explain just what this is, and why it's so worth watching, but better that you simply scroll down, press play, and enjoy the hilarity (and surprisingly convincing engine/exhaust soundtrack) for yourself.
