There's still plenty of time until Transformers 4 hits the big screen, and Michael Bay & Co. are making sure there is plenty of suspense in the meantime. Which is good, because we're not really expecting any actual suspense from the flick. Not wanting to drown you with short posts as Bay's website slowly and steadily starts to run down the list of cars that will appear in the movie, we've held off until now to give you a quick update roundup.

Following the introduction of the new Optimus Prime, a Bugatti Veyron and a C7 Corvette last month, recent announcements include a "new" Bumblebee, a tactical vehicle named Hound and a Lamborghini Aventador. While the Aventador is sure to be an interesting addition to the cast of cars, Bumblebee looks to be trading in his fifth-gen Camaro digs for a highly modified first-gen Camaro shell. What does any of this mean for the next installment of Transformers? Very little, except for the fact that it looks like T4 won't be as much of a GM commercial as its predecessors and Michael Bay seems to be replacing the high budget of big-name actors with an equally high budget of exotic cars (plus Marky Mark).

Last July, Lamborghini celebrated the assembly of its 1,000th Aventador. That was an impressive milestone for the US$400,000-plus supercar, as its Murciélago predecessor took took nearly three years to accomplish the same feat. But the automaker's biggest and baddest bull has broken another milestone, as the Aventador celebrated its 2,000th vehicle produced last week. The Nero Nemesis (matte black) car rolled off the assembly line on June 6, destined to the garage of Thaddeus Arroyo, who lives in the States.

Originally launched as a closed-roof coupe at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011, the Italians introduced the open-roof LP 700-4 Roadster last fall at the Los Angeles Auto Show before allowing us to drive it in February of this year. Assembled in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini's Aventador is currently running at a production rate of nearly five units per day.

Lamborghini has understandably been very pleased with its flagship, and customer demand shows no signs of faltering. According to the automaker, the waiting list for new car is longer than a year. Be sure to check out the press release below.

When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.

Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.

Here's something you don't see everyday: In Nakhon Ratchasima Province in Thailand, a trailer full of expensive supercars goes up in smoke after suddenly catching fire. It's quite a big deal when we see or hear of a single supercar totaled (like this wayward Lamborghini driving couple, or this C63 AMG driver), but a trailer full of six-figure exotics being caught on fire?!

We don't know much other than the video's description. It looks like the fire started with a BMW X6 on top before it spread to what looks like a Ferrari F430, a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 and a couple of Bentley Continental Flying Spurs.

The cause of what started the fire is still unknown (because supercar?), but what we do know is that the estimated damage is about 100 million baht (roughly CAD$3,426,300) so far.

Hip hop star Kanye West continues to make celebrity headlines after crashing his $750,000 Lamborghini Aventador into the massive gates at Kim Kardashian's house. This incident comes just a few days after an embarrassed Kanye West was seen freaking out at paparazzi who caught him hitting his head on a street sign while walking through Beverly Hills with his baby momma (maybe the new baby bump spotted on his forehead could have caused the crash?).

According to reports, Kanye's Lamborghini was being dropped off at girlfriend Kim Kardashian's house after he had taken it in for service, but instead it became badly damaged after it was seen suddenly sandwiched in between the heavy electric gates which closed on the car before the flat-black Aventador could finish making its way through them.

While many of us may never have the chance, or be willing to part with the hundreds of thousands of dollars required to own our own supercar, the experience of driving a supercar for the first time is incredibly memorable, and there is no surprise that it is something that is on the bucket list of millions of car enthusiasts around the globe. The process for supercar rental isn't as complex as one may think, however it's a bit more of a process than booking your average budget rental car. Pricing can range from roughly $800 to $2,500 per day, so you're best to map out as much of your driving as you can. There are now supercar rental companies in many major cities, but the last thing you want to do is waste valuable hours on bad city traffic so we strongly recommend picking a destination for your drive.

Lou La Vie out of Miami will drop your rental to your requested destination, while other companies like Exotics Racing in Las Vegas have direct access to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and offer rental packages as brief as $249 for 5 laps in a Mercedes-Benz SLS. If you're wanting to go further afield, there are a few companies that will offer up rentals to challenge the dreaded Nurburgring if you are able to get there before it closes. If you desire a warmer climate, Ascari Race Resort offers driving experience days on their private track in Malaga, Spain with full instruction.

Whether you go local or abroad, one thing is certain you will never forget or regret your first experience in a supercar. The only advice we can offer is to be prepared to have any concept of speed you previously had to be shattered.

Seeing the wild Lamborghini Egoista is one thing, but hearing the single-seat concept car fire to life in all its glory is something entirely different. Visitors at the Lamborghini 50th anniversary celebration in Sant' Agata got that rare opportunity when the Egoista made its presence felt. Nothing says, "I have arrived" quite like a 5.2-litre V10 barking at the crowd. It may not be the prettiest belle at the ball, but it has the pipes to make even the most jaded among us weak in the knees.

Lamborghini Aventador in airport

Lamborghini has invaded another airport as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. In January, it took over one of the two runways at Miami-Dade International Airport so it could conduct high-speed runs and have an Aventador pose with a Boeing airliner. Across the Atlantic, the Aventador has just been made the "Follow Me" vehicle at the Aeroporto di Bologna, which is 30 minutes from the company factory in Sant' Agata Bolognese.

According to Auto Evolution, it's been done up just like the Fiat models one normally encounters on such duty - it even has a light bar in case pilots don't simply want to follow the noise. Specially trained airport staff will guide arriving flights to their gates in the Aventador from May 6 to May 19, and once passengers are deplaned, they can check out the Lamborghini exhibit inside the airport.

The editorial director of EVO, Harry Metcalfe, was at the Lamborghini anniversary gala that saw the launch of the Egoista concept car, and tweeted this bit of news on the Urus: "Lamborghini confirms Urus SUV for 2017 production at tonight's #Lambo50 gala dinner." The Urus, you'll remember, was the concept SUV revealed at the Beijing Motor Show last year and branded "the first Lamborghini for everyday use" by company CEO Stephan Winkelmann. But that would only be if it were produced, and as of December last year it still hadn't been given the green light - even though development had continued.

This year, though, a couple of things have happened to convince some that it's probably on its way. There were patents filed in China in February, and in March Audi CEO Rupert Stadler told Autocar "Lamborghini has to do it. Because of the need to dovetail into production cycles, we should see the Urus in 2017." And since Audi is the official owner of Lamborghini, one would think the CEO knows what he's talking about when he says Lamborghini "has" to do something.

It's predicted that the showroom version will appear in 2016 as a 2017 model, accounting for the time it will take to develop and Stadler's 'production cycle' comment, referring to a slot in the refresh timetable for the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg with which the Urus will share its MQB platform. A report in Car and Driver says the Sant' Agata company will also be looking for the Urus to bolster its sales in China and its coffers in Italy, and cost between US$150,000 and US$200,000.

Does the mere desire to own a ridiculously high-performance and stupendously expensive supercar automatically make its prospective owner a little selfish? Not necessarily, but if said supercar has just one seat, a case could certainly be made that its megalomaniacal owner simply doesn't want to share the experience with his friends...

For such an owner, Lamborghini has presented the Egoista Concept - perhaps fittingly, the car was unveiled at a private 50th birthday party that the automaker seems to have thrown for itself. From what we can glean without any official announcement from Lamborghini to go by, the Egoista Concept has room for a single occupant, is powered by a 5.2-litre V10 engine and boasts styling said to be inspired by an Apache helicopter.

If you're a fan of Lamborghini then you'll want to set aside a few minutes of your time for these videos below. The Sant' Agata carmaker is hosting a 50th Anniversary Tour from Milan to Rome and then back up to the factory in Bologna, and the 350 entries in this running of the bulls were staged on a Milan street. The video footage closely follows the exotic convoy and captures a great look at the field of glory that spans countless Lambo models from 1963 to now.

While the video does lack the full-throttle thrill of supercars merging onto the M6 in the UK, it's amazing to see how all these raging bulls come together. As a virtual tour of Italian art museum showcasing a massive outdoor exhibit of Lamborghinis, however, it can't be beat. Don't hesitate to watch the videos below.

Unlike the last Lamborghini crash we reported on, the driver of this 2008 Murcielago roadster decided to come clean about his careless and expensive accident rather than abandon his exotic car and mysteriously flee the scene.

According to reports, the Lambo valued at around $200,000 (over $400K new), nearly flipped over as it dangerously spun out onto the sidewalk after skidding across a busy road in Waterloo, Ontario. A spokesperson for Waterloo Regional Police says investigation officers noted the driver appears to have lost control because of the power of the car. Although the full extent of damage done is still unknown, the 30-year-old man behind the wheel is now facing charges for careless driving and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

Although the damage may look pretty bad, the good news is nobody was hurt by the smashed supercar and the six-figure Lamborghini also didn't shoot flames at people (à la Justin Bieber) or catch fire like other ones we've seen before. Hopefully, this Lamborghini owner has learned a valuable lesson and won't complain (like this guy did) about any expensive fines or costly repairs that could be associated with this crash.

In what must have looked and sounded to motorists on the M6 like an invasion of The Swarm, a parade of 50 enthusiast gems leaving a charity event were caught shooting down the on-ramp and merging into traffic. There were plenty of Porsches joining the 959 and Ducktail above, Aston Martins going back to the badboy V8 of the last millennium, a Ferrari Testarossa, a TVR and numerous other Easter eggs.

There were not, however, plenty of turn signals, with someone counting just five among the fifty engaging in proper use of the blinker. One reason put forth for that is the same reason we're posting this amazing video, which is from last Summer, below: "because supercar." Enjoy.

Huffington Post and Gulf News are reporting that pop star (and by all accounts, terrible driver) Justin Bieber has racked up a number of speeding fines while driving past speed cameras at excessive velocities, in Dubai. Piloting his Lamborghini Aventador on Dubai's Shaikh Zayed Road this past Sunday, Bieber racked up a reported six moving violations, according to the Dubai Police. Police apparently tried to make the singer stop, to no avail (it seems as though there's an interesting story not being told in there, somewhere).

Bieber was driving to and from a couple of concerts in Dubai on Saturday and Sunday, at least one of which he was reportedly late to. Fans should be heartened to hear that he was trying his best to make the show on time, as we previously reported on the video footage of Bieber's Lamborghini shooting flames at fans in Dubai.

Interestingly, the Dubai police force has upped the firepower of its own motor pool recently. We know that the crew has an Aventador of its own, as well as an Aston Martin that should probably be good for giving chase in exotic infractions like this one. Keep your head on a swivel, Bieb.

Italy is the wound that continues to drain blood from the financial body of Italian supercar and sports car makers. The wound was opened by the country's various financial police who decided to get serious about superyacht-owning and supercar-driving tax cheats a few years ago, by noting their registrations and checking their incomes. When it was found that a rather high percentage of exotic toy owners had claimed a rather low annual income - certain business owners were found to be declaring less income than their employees - the owners began dumping their cars and prospective buyers declined to buy.

Car and Driver has a piece on how the initiative is hitting the home market the hardest. Lamborghini sold 1,302 cars worldwide in 2010, 1,602 cars in 2011 and 2,083 cars in 2012 - an excellent surge in just two years. In Italy, however, it's all about the ebb: in 2010, the year that Italian police began scouring high rolling marinas, Lamborghini sold 96 cars in Italy, the next year it sold 72, last year it sold just 60. The declines for Maserati and Ferrari are even more pronounced.

A year ago the chairman of Italy's Federauto accused the government of "terrorizing potential clients," this year Luca di Montezemolo says what's happening has created "a hostile environment for ­luxury goods." Dubai Police Aston Martin One-77

GulfNews.com reports the Dubai Police will add even more exotic cars to its fleet of law enforcement vehicles. As you may recall, the city's police department already has a Ferrari FF and a Lamborghini Aventador. Now it looks as if officers will be able to patrol the streets in an Aston Martin One-77 Q-Series and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. An undefined Bentley will also join the the fleet in the near future. Right now, the One-77 is on display at the Arabian Travel Market for tourists to enjoy. So, why does a police department need a one-of-seven ultra exotic like the $3 million One-77 Q-Series?

While speaking with GulfNews.com, Dubai Police Chief Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Al Tamim said that the public's reaction and enthusiasm for the force's Aventador convinced him to add other exotics to the stable. The cars will be used for "road security." "These sports cars will not be roaring and chasing speeding motorists," he said.

The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has more clout every year and is getting a reputation as Pebble Beach minus the madness. Held in March this year, it celebrated Ducati and the 50-year anniversaries of Lamborghini, the Corvette Sting Ray, Porsche 911 and the Ford GT40.

Justin Lapriore was there, and seemingly everywhere, getting footage of the various wares on display on the lawns and the sand and the runway. The resulting video, Born of a Blue Sky, is a 16-minute survey of some of the finer sights and plenty of engine sounds. Check it out below.

Crowd funding schemes have been created to help ordinary people achieve financial goals that otherwise couldn't be met. Infertile couples have collected enough money to attend a fertility clinic they otherwise couldn't have afforded, people have received help to cover dental bills, some have collected money to pay for medical bills, and the list goes on from there. One young man is now asking for your help to buy him a Lamborghini Gallardo, and he states on his website, "I'm not going to lay out any of my own money for this, so it has to come completely from donations." Well there's a... um... novel idea.

In the FAQ section of his website he clarifies, "OK, so you know how all these sites like Kickstarter are popping up so people can fund projects and stuff? Well, this is kind of like that, but instead of a product or project, you're funding my ability to go and buy a Lamborghini Gallardo and donate to charity." Ah, there's the hook: charity. Yes, this endeavour to obtain a supercar without spending so much as one dollar of his own money ultimately boils down to a good cause - so he would lead us to believe. But given that he does not intend to give any money to charity until he's buckling into his shiny new Lambo, any mention of charity in this scheme occurs to us as rather disingenuous.

According to this young man's Twitter account, his efforts were launched on April 20th 2013 and as of this writing he has raised US$163.99. His goal is to waltz into his local New York area Lamborghini dealership on Wednesday, July 31st, 2013, and sign on the dotted line, with cheque in hand. Some quick math: that means he'll need to raise roughly US$2,200 per day, every day, until July 31st. Off to a slow start then.

Aventador LP720-4 50 Anniversario Edition. There will be just 100 of them produced, each one in the buttery hue that has been the most popular colour among the Lamborghini palette since the Miura arrived in 1966.

This limited-edition Aventador gets 20 more horsepower than the standard car for a total of 720 horses, and there's a new aerodynamics package to keep all of them planted on the ground.
