Playing a game of Frisbee is rarely about power - it's more about agility, precision and open-air enjoyment. Much the same can be said of the Mazda MX-5 Miata, whose charm has always originated more from its finesse and tactility rather than brute strength and outright speed, qualities the evergreen roadster has traditionally lacked.

When a video touts itself as "probably the greatest hollywood-style RC action movie car chase ever," (sic) you should set yourself up for disappointment. That's not to say that this joint effort, a clearly well-funded partnership between LA Muscle Sports Supplements and Fast & Furious 6, isn't fun and polished, but just lately we've posted some very entertaining small-scale car videos like this and this.

Still, it's cool to watch an R/C Camaro slide wide around turns amidst warehouse shelves full of LA Muscle product. Just as in real life, zooming around gets the attention of the constabulary, and a passel of police cars gives chase, which leads our Camaro protagonist to... J-TURN! It is a cool video, tied to a movie that we know is full of some fantastic cars and you can bet that the full-sizers will do stunts that are even more jaw-dropping.

BAIC Nicholas Cage

BAIC has officially pulled the covers off of its new Senova D Series sedan for China. The four-door is based on the old Saab 9-5 and boasts a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. Local buyers can get their hands on the machine for around US$22,745 at current conversion rates. Other engine options include a turbocharged 1.8-litre comes standard on every trim except the very base model. Those goodies include a tire pressure monitoring system, active head restraints, blind spot detection, driver fatigue detection and parking sensors.

The Senova nameplate serves every model based on former Saab architectures, including the Epsilon, GM2900 and GM2400 platforms as well as engine and transmission tech. In order to promote its new products, BAIC has hired Hollywood staple Nicolas Cage to serve as the company's brand ambassador. Cage stars in the Senova-heavy Town of Car Legends action-packed video short (directed by Olivier Megaton of Transporter 3 and Taken 2 fame) which you can watch by scrolling below.

Give them rides from a toy store shelf and the cockiness of Top Gun, put them on courses from Mad Max and mix in a vibe and radio chatter from the attack on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back, and what do you have? The Hot Wheels short film World's Best Driver.

The maker of little diecast cars got some big cars together - some you've seen before, some are from other planets - as well as some wild drivers and moto-crossers, and put them to the test at a 'secret' location called the Hot Wheels Test Facility, where things get quite a bit wilder than they do at the Nürburgring.

We have no idea why this movie exists, and we don't care - it's 22 minutes of camped-out fun and you'll find it below.

With its new "Your Turn" global ad campaign, Jaguar has introduced its 2014 F-Type to the world of broadcast media. The effort takes aim at the monied 25-54 demographic, which makes sense of Jaguar recently shacking up with the 2013 Playboy Playmate of the Year Raquel Pomplun and San Francisco NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. You'll also be seeing the new roadster on ESPN's SportsCenter, late night ABC talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live, the USA Network show Covert Affairs, the Sundance Channel and theaters, magazines and everywhere digital. On top of all that, a social media campaign includes a contest called #MyTurnToJag that will reward four winners with a custom drive in the new convertible.

Honda and McLaren announce new F1 efforts by showing three race cars throughout history

McLaren Honda team formation - executives shaking handsHonda must really love Formula One racing, as evidenced by today's announcement that the Japanese automaker is returning to the world's most popular motorsport for the fifth time in its history. Honda has entered into a team partnership with McLaren to develop and manufacture power systems - the engine and energy recovery system - for the 2015 F1 season. McLaren will be in charge of chassis development and running the day-to-day operations of this newly formed team, which will be called McLaren Honda.

Honda says its decision to re-enter F1 racing had to do with new regulations for the 2014 season that require cars to be powered by a 1.6-litre direct-injection turbocharged V6 engine paired with an energy recovery system. Apparently the chance to develop this particular powertrain for F1 racing was too enticing for Honda to pass up, which suggests it has bigger plans for the knowledge learned while developing these systems beyond just winning races.

As mentioned, this is Honda's fifth foray into F1 racing, the first being back in 1964 when it participated as its own team through 1968. Its longest stint came from 1983-1992 as an engine supplier, during which time it partnered with many teams, including McLaren, and won six Constructor Championships. Honda then returned from 2000-2005 as an engine supplier for British American Racing (BAR) before buying that team outright and running it as Honda Racing from 2006-2008. Then the global economic crisis hit. Honda's return to the sport will surely be welcomed by fans as its partnership with McLaren should produce a formidable team. It's a strong signal that the company has returned to health after a few tumultuous years, and hopefully its rediscovered motorsports mojo will help yield more passionately engineered street cars.

Volkswagen Stop Start Ad

Babies and cars go together like screaming blobs of insomnia and sleep machines. New parents quickly find that nothing soothes an irritable newborn quite like a quick drive around the block, and Volkswagen employed that truth in the company's newest ad for its stop/start technology. The spot follows one new dad as he tries to lull his child to sleep with the burble and purr of his Tiguan TDI. Unfortunately, his efforts are thwarted by the machine's start/stop system at each stop light.

While the video does a great job of explaining how the start/stop system works and what it does for the buyer, Volkswagen took a bit of a gamble by having the system wake a sleeping baby. Automakers spend plenty of time trying to convince the world that their stop/start gear is as smooth as possible, and while this wee Volkswagen enthusiast falls asleep the moment the diesel engine wakes up, the implication is that the system isn't exactly imperceptible.

Following last week's entertaining and wildly popular Spock vs. Spock video, Audi has come back with a bevy of videos for its new advertising campaign that will begin airing tonight in primetime and on cable.

There are five ads altogether, but the longest one, a 60-second spot titled It Couldn't Be Done, is our favourite by far. Set to a reading of the poem of the same name by Edgar Albert Guest, the commercial chronicles the history of Auto Union Deutschland Ingolstadt from the days of its founder, August Horch, through its many decades of innovation, competition and creativity. Indeed, watching the commercial gave us chills similar to when we first heard the Ram brand's Farmer commercial that aired during this year's Super Bowl.

The other four commercials are shorter 15-second spots that focus on such familiar themes as the company's Quattro all-wheel-drive system, the safety of its vehicles, their style and the company's advances in LED lighting. While less impactful than the longer ad, we think they effectively sound the drum beat of Audi's preferred tag line: Truth in Engineering. No one could describe 82 year-old Bernie Ecclestone as racy (he failed to qualify for both F1 races he attempted to contest back in 1958), but his daughter, Tamara, seems to have found the racy switch in the family genes. Posing for Playboy magazine, she was much obliged to bare all and turn up the sexy-meter for the family name.

Tamara Ecclestone has been dubbed 'The Diamond Heiress' by editors of Playboy and she graces the cover of the May issue. She earns her nickname not just for being heir to a multi-billion dollar inheritance, but for her affinity for diamonds. She's seen lying naked with her intimate areas covered by sparkling gems in the Playboy shoot (as pictured above).

There are seven additional racy shots of the 28-year-old with one getting back to the automotive roots of the Ecclestone name, with Tamara posing naked in a convertible driven by two maids.

"As a woman I feel you have to embrace your body and feel beautiful both inside and out," says Ecclestone. Clearly she is eager to focus on the latter.

She certainly isn't doing it for the money since Tamara's father, Bernie Ecclestone, is said to be the fourth richest man in the U.K. after amassing his wealth as Formula One's top dog (and through other astute business investments). His other daughter, Petra Ecclestone recently bought the most expensive house in the United States, which was the former home of Aaron Spelling that reportedly sold for almost US$100 million.

Lana del Rey is its songstress, Englishman-playing-American-terrorist Damien Lewis lead its cinematic debut in Desire, San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick gets the athletic endorsement, and now it's just been driven behind the "Adults Only" doors at the Playboy Mansion: Raquel Pomplun was gifted a year's use of an F-Type for being named 2013 Playmate of the Year.

The new campaign, entitled "Game Changers," will begin in May, and rather than focusing on its sporty past - like it did with Zoom-Zoom early on - the new ads will look at recent advancements made in building its future, including Skyactiv technologies and its new diesel race program, both of which involve its excellent new Mazda6 sedan.

As a part of the ads, Mazda will showcase game changers from the sporting world, including Dick Fosbury who changed how competitors perform the high jump and Laird Hamilton, who redefined how surfers attacked big waves. It doesn't sound like Zoom-Zoom is going away, but "Game Changers" will definitely feature heavily in the Japanese automaker's marketing moving forward. Red Bull Crown Range drifting by Mad Mike

For the first time ever, the Crown Range, New Zealand's highest paved road, was closed off for the drifting pleasure of one man. That man is Mad Mike Whiddett, and the machine he's piloting is a heavily modified Mazda RX-7 sponsored by the energy-rich crew from Red Bull and powered by a 750-horsepower quad-rotor engine. There will be smoke. Lots and lots of smoke!

Mad Mike hits speeds in excess of 225 km/h (140 mph) over the course of the road's 10 kilometre length, which boasts 47 individual corners at over 3,500 feet of elevation. The last time we wrote about the Fiat commercial Immigrants, it was to question whether the ad provided our first glimpse of the 500T. That was a year ago, but Fiat isn't finished utilizing that commercial theme. The song in the one-minute commercial was Sexy People (All Around the World) by Italian songstress Arianna, and the Immigrant commercial has been lengthened and turned into a music video for the song as Arianna prepares that track and more for her first studio album.

The tune features Pit Bull and the clip is like a hip-hop video meets The Little Mermaid. Well, until Charlie Sheen shows up! That's when it starts Winning, and you can enjoy it all in the video below, along with the original ad from Fiat.

We wanted to play this one straight, but since it involves Fast & Furious 6 we just couldn't figure out how. Alfa Romeo is touting the role of the Guilietta in the next episode of car guys and gals versus bad guys and gals, and the now-Europe-inclusive franchise is using the post-stunt vehicles in its advertising. Well, we might add.

We'll let the breathy, exclamatory press release below speak for itself, along with the movie trailer in which you get to see the "modified" Giulietta demonstrating the textbook technique for pulling down an Antonov cargo plane at take-off speed.

Dubai Police Aston Martin One-77

GulfNews.com reports the Dubai Police will add even more exotic cars to its fleet of law enforcement vehicles. As you may recall, the city's police department already has a Ferrari FF and a Lamborghini Aventador. Now it looks as if officers will be able to patrol the streets in an Aston Martin One-77 Q-Series and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. An undefined Bentley will also join the the fleet in the near future. Right now, the One-77 is on display at the Arabian Travel Market for tourists to enjoy. So, why does a police department need a one-of-seven ultra exotic like the $3 million One-77 Q-Series?

While speaking with GulfNews.com, Dubai Police Chief Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Al Tamim said that the public's reaction and enthusiasm for the force's Aventador convinced him to add other exotics to the stable. The cars will be used for "road security." "These sports cars will not be roaring and chasing speeding motorists," he said.

Could this be a first? Normally we wait in anticipation of the camouflage to be taken off prototype cars, but Greenwich Patch is reporting that a car dealership has taken a production car back to its prototype days. The McLaren MP4-12C above was painted gray, but you'd never know it because the sheetmetal has been covered by a vinyl wrap decorated with the same camouflage pattern McLaren uses for its pre-production prototypes. It shares the same design as McLaren - for proof, check out this P1 in winter testing. Word has it that it took three days to apply the wrap. The shapes are those of race tracks around the world.

The dealership calls it the MP4-12C Greenwich Special Edition. It's a pre-owned car and we're not sure whether the wrap was applied as new or to help the coupe find a new home, but we'd like to buy a pint for the person that thought it up. If you like the style but not the exotic car price tag, you can probably design one for your own car with countless hours and Adobe Illustrator. Controversial Chevrolet Trax ad - screencap

In what can only be described as a growing trend, another automaker finds itself in trouble for an ad that critics are calling offensive. A new television and internet ad for the Chevrolet Trax subcompact crossover is under fire for its soundtrack, which a Chinese newspaper has labeled "racist."

The commercial blends the vehicle with a Flapper-era backdrop and soundtrack, and it's the latter that has General Motors spokeswoman Ryndee Carney issuing an on-the-record apology to Advertising Age: "Our intent was not to offend anyone and we're deeply sorry if anyone was offended... we're reviewing our advertising approval processes to make sure this doesn't happen again." The song in question, performed by Austrian DJ and producer Parov Stelar, refers to "the land of Fu Manchu" a place in which the girls sing "ching, ching, chop-suey." The South China Morning Post was among the first to publish a story criticizing the commercial as racist.

The ad, known as The Original Reborn, has been running here in Canada - the only North American market where the vehicle is on sale - and AdAge also reports that it has been featured on the automaker's European websites. Since the controversy erupted, Chevrolet has since substituted a new version of the ad that omits the lyrics, but you can view the original by scrolling below.

Controversial ads are nothing new for this industry, but there has been a bumper crop of them lately, including a recent Hyundai suicide-themed spot and a series of Indian-market Ford print ads featuring celebrity caricatures making light of S&M-tinged kidnappings.

Political correctness can be a little over-rated at times and we understand that once in a while some people want to break free from their linguistic filter. The author of this Calgary Craigslist ad smashed several PC formalities while attempting to sell his pickup truck, entwining Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Bulgarian prostitutes, midgets and Hello Kitty into one comedic, somewhat offensive sales effort with NSFW lingo.

The truck for sale is a 5-speed manual, 1993 Nissan D21 light-duty pickup (as pictured above - though purportedly in much worse shape) with 285,000 kilometres on the odometer. It appears the truck remains unsold, in case you were wondering. The asking price may be the only attractive facet of this vehicle, a handsome $499.00. You can view the original ad here.

Our favourite one liner? "The rear wheel wells are rusting out faster than Stephen Harper's sense of ethics and responsibility."

After 65 years of building globe-conquering luxury vehicles, Land Rover is proving that its off-road abilities are so well known that it doesn't even have to feature a single vehicle in its advertising to convey its message. Rather than showing off a new model such as the 2013 Range Rover or the new 2014 Range Rover Sport, Land Rover's Parkour Roam Free commercial instead shows a quartet of male parkour traceurs running, jumping and flipping around in the wilderness.

Despite not showing any of its products, Land Rover has managed to create a spot that is actually both entertaining and beautiful. Check out the video posted below, and then let us know in the comments whether or not you think such marketing can be effective.

Small businesses are the lifeblood of the economy, but sometimes word-of-mouth advertising is more effective than attempting to create your own commercial on a budget. Take this video for Arlen's Transmission in Burbank, CA, for example. While we can't say for sure whether this video is intended to be a real television commercial or just a parody, it is equal parts hilarious and creepy.

If you think starting a commercial with "Hey baby, how does your car run?" is bad, things only go downhill from here... with the exception of a clean-looking Volkswagen Thing, of course. If you're up for a good chuckle, check out the video posted below, but we know that if we ever find ourselves in the Burbank area with transmission problems, we'll probably just stick with Aamco.
