While most automakers are clawing and scratching for every possible sale, it sounds like Ferrari is content in losing a few potential customers in the name of better exclusivity and higher profits. Autocar reports that Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo recently stated that the Italian automaker hopes to sell fewer than 7,000 units globally in 2013 compared to last year's tally of 7,318.

As a part of this plan, Ferrari will be slowing its production lines and trying to create a balanced market for its cars in the North America, the Middle East, Europe and China - the latter two being the automaker's biggest markets. Montezemolo also said that Ferrari would not be expanding its model lineup with SUVs, sedans or small cars.

Huffington Post and Gulf News are reporting that pop star (and by all accounts, terrible driver) Justin Bieber has racked up a number of speeding fines while driving past speed cameras at excessive velocities, in Dubai. Piloting his Lamborghini Aventador on Dubai's Shaikh Zayed Road this past Sunday, Bieber racked up a reported six moving violations, according to the Dubai Police. Police apparently tried to make the singer stop, to no avail (it seems as though there's an interesting story not being told in there, somewhere).

Bieber was driving to and from a couple of concerts in Dubai on Saturday and Sunday, at least one of which he was reportedly late to. Fans should be heartened to hear that he was trying his best to make the show on time, as we previously reported on the video footage of Bieber's Lamborghini shooting flames at fans in Dubai.

Interestingly, the Dubai police force has upped the firepower of its own motor pool recently. We know that the crew has an Aventador of its own, as well as an Aston Martin that should probably be good for giving chase in exotic infractions like this one. Keep your head on a swivel, Bieb.

Dubai Police Aston Martin One-77

GulfNews.com reports the Dubai Police will add even more exotic cars to its fleet of law enforcement vehicles. As you may recall, the city's police department already has a Ferrari FF and a Lamborghini Aventador. Now it looks as if officers will be able to patrol the streets in an Aston Martin One-77 Q-Series and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. An undefined Bentley will also join the the fleet in the near future. Right now, the One-77 is on display at the Arabian Travel Market for tourists to enjoy. So, why does a police department need a one-of-seven ultra exotic like the $3 million One-77 Q-Series?

While speaking with GulfNews.com, Dubai Police Chief Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Al Tamim said that the public's reaction and enthusiasm for the force's Aventador convinced him to add other exotics to the stable. The cars will be used for "road security." "These sports cars will not be roaring and chasing speeding motorists," he said.

Although we've seen shocking dash cam footage of a plane crash before, this horrific crash video captures dramatic last moments of an American cargo plane operated by National Airlines that had just taken off from nearby Bagram Airfield military base in Afghanistan.

At first glance, the surreal plane crash almost looks like something you'd see in a Hollywood movie, yet sadly this dash cam video did not contain any explosive special effects. The massive Boeing 747 jumbo jet seems to be standing still in the air at full thrust, until it suddenly seems to stall out, pitch down and come crashing down onto the road filled with cars.

The incident claimed the lives of all seven Americans on board the National Airlines Boeing 747. Our thoughts go out to the families and friends of the seven casualties. No other passengers were on the plane, which is said to have been carrying a heavy load of military vehicles.

Although the Taliban have claimed responsibility for the jet crash, NATO continues to deny such allegations saying there have been no reports of insurgent activity in or around the base.

The sand, the wind, the penalties, the contact and the one crash - all of them collided to make the Bahrain Formula One Grand Prix a surprise affair from day to day and lap to lap. Oh, and did we mention the tires? Pirelli made a last-minute swap after the amusement park ride that the Chinese Grand Prix turned into with the soft compound tire, and brought medium and hard compounds to the desert. That didn't stop things from falling apart for some teams - literally - and that didn't stop the one team that seems to love the hard compound Pirelli tire.

Dubai Police Department Ferrari FF

Supercars are a sulky lot by nature. Leave them to their own devices and they'll quickly grow despondent. That's why so many owners have more than one exotic in the stable. The Dubai Police seem to have caught on to that fact, having just added a Ferrari FF to help keep the force's new Lamborghini Aventador company. The duo will patrol the city's more affluent regions to promote the area's image as a mecca for money.

Mission: accomplished.

Of course, the Dubai PD certainly isn't the first law enforcement agency to adopt flashy cruisers, and car gods willing, it won't be the last. There was the Nissan GT-R gussied up for police duty, as well as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 and the Mitsubishi Evo X, but we have to say the DPD certainly has the most lust-worthy stable at the moment.

Bahrain F1 protest

Law enforcement in Bahrain is once again cracking down on pro-democracy protesters ahead of the upcoming Bahrain GP. The Formula One race focuses the world's attention on the Middle Eastern kingdom each year, and protesters take the occasion to demonstrate against the ruling family.

This year, human rights organizations cried foul after the government arrested 70 people in a preemptive move to quell unrest. Around 20 people from the Dar Klaib and Shanrakan villages near the Bahrain International Circuit have been detained along with a further 50 individuals from Aldeir and Sameheij closer to the airport.

Some of the detainees are known journalists and photographers, and contrary to the government's hopes, the arrests have seemingly served to fuel the protests. Demonstrators hold that the F1 race lends legitimacy to the current government while the ruling party continues to oppress its people. You can watch the full news report below for more information. The Bahrain GP is slated to take place on April 21.

Jeremy Clarkson

It's true. Top Gear has been hitting airwaves in Iran since 2009, and since then, the program has garnered an impressive following. Mozaffar Shafeie, an actor who translates Jeremy Clarkson's musings into Farsi for the show, routinely finds himself signing autographs for fans. While the BBC can't operate freely in the country, BBC Persian TV hosts Top Gear. When the station dropped the show to air an interview with then US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, BBC reports viewers accustomed to their regular dose of Clarkson, Hammond and May protested bitterly.

When the regular Top Gear season comes to a close, BBC Persian TV fills the time slot with Top Gear USA. Needless to say, that maneuver goes over about as well as broadcasting Clinton's comments.

Iranians are only allowed to buy 49 litres (13 gallons) of gasoline every month, but that hasn't quelled the country's love of cars. Even so, many manufacturers have left the country in protest against Iran's nuclear program.

Don't bring a knife to a gun fight, and don't bring a Volkswagen to a Lamborghini chase - such was the logic of the Dubai Police Department prior to ordering their brand-new Aventador pursuit vehicle. Given the plethora of fast exotics that bruise the Arabian roadscape, we can't blame the police for wanting a Lamborghini to keep up with law-breakers; and quite frankly, we can't blame the police for wanting to drive a Lamborghini, period.

Drive Arabia reports that "the Lamborghini will be used to patrol certain upscale tourist spots, largely as a show of prestige." As far as public relations campaigns go, this one ranks near the top of the attention-grabbing list. This statement seems to imply that the Lambo won't be used for regular traffic duties - but we can't help but envisage this Italian beast bearing down on a Ferrari - and we suspect the PR officer at the helm will be having similar day dreams.

Local citizens under 12 years of age will likely share our enthusiasm for the Lamborghini police car, but local taxpayers are not likely to share our enthusiasm. After all, who wants to help pay for a Lamborghini and never be able to drive it?

A final word directed to tourists: do not attempt to shake Dubai police in your rental VW Golf - you'll be out-gunned by eight cylinders.

Coin-covered Land Rover from the Middle East - video image screencap

Conspicuous consumption is a vice that wealthy North Americans have down to a science, but it's safe to say that the richest members of the Middle Eastern elite have elevated it to an art.

The latest example that we've seen of said artistry is a Range Rover that has been elaborately festooned with coinage from some of the most oil-rich nations of the region. The work has been done by an outfit called Coins Car - we're hoping there's some witticism there that just doesn't translate into English - and has seen some 57,412 coins adhered to the surface of the SUV. Following the flag markers, we see that coins from Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Saudi Arabia have all been represented, and with United Arab Emirates getting more real estate than the rest of the crew.

Reports are coming in from Israel that US President Obama's limousine, often called "The Beast," has broken down. You might be wondering how the most protected vehicle in the world could break down on an overseas visit, and the answer will surprise you. Apparently, somebody filled The Beast with diesel fuel instead of gasoline, according The Times of Israel. As the report goes...

"The Americans filled it up with diesel, rather than petrol," reports Channel 2 - stressing that it was the Americans, not the Israelis.

What does the Secret Service do when the President's ride has been compromised this way? Since calling a cab is out of the question, they reportedly have a replacement limousine being flown in from Jordan. "Son of Beast," we'll call it.

Perhaps if Cadillac developed a "Beast" based upon the new ELR, the Secret Service wouldn't have had to add fuel in the first place? Click through to watch the ELR in winter testing.

UPDATE: According to the Times of Israel, this was actually the backup limo as the original one shipped wouldn't start at the airport.

Sand dune uphill drag racing in the UAE - screencap of race truck with hood off showing massive turbo

At this point, we've all seen videos depicting the insanity of Middle Eastern sand dune climbs. The clips that make their way to the Western world often include some sort of terrifying nose-over-tail tumble from the top, but this latest clip gives us a glimpse at exactly what sort of machine is required to run up a massive pile of sand at high speeds. Expect turbos. Lots and lots of massive turbos. This particular competition features three classes: V6 Manual, V6 Automatic and V8, and as you'd expect with any high-horsepower event, there's as much mechanical failure as actual success.

The video below features an extensive pit walk with plenty of lingering shots inside some of the most ludicrous engine bays we've ever laid eyes upon. The actual racing gets going around the five-minute mark, and we can't help bet feel there's more than a passing resemblance between this sport and a good old-fashioned tractor pull. Jeep Wrangler International custom

What in the world is the vehicle you see above? Well, um... yeah. We have no idea. According to the video description from YouTube, however, it's a modified Jeep Wrangler, and it comes from the same person who created the equally insane side-by-side merged Wrangler you saw here.

We can clearly make out the Wrangler-shaped passenger compartment up top, but as for the other bits and pieces that make up this rather amazing machine, your guess is as good as ours. At the very least, it seems to us that the car's wheelbase has been given a significant stretch, and the grille may have come from an International semi truck (but not this one, also modified in its own way).

What other components are sourced from the massive International hauler? No idea. We suggest you check out the video below and draw your own conclusions. Oh, and if you've got any other ideas, feel free to let us know in the Comments.

Last summer brought word that the Middle East was finally getting its own homegrown supercars in the form of two all-new vehicles - the Hypersport and Supersport - from W Motors. Now, just weeks after its official debut at the 2013 Qatar Motor Show, we are learning more details about its initial release, aptly called the Lykan Hypersport.

Its appearance is radical (looking a bit as if it were penned by Lamborghini), but it more than substantiates its performance. According to the automaker, the Hypersport will boast a twin-turbo flat-six generating about 750 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. The mid-mounted engine will propel the Arab supercar to 60 miles per hour in a blistering 2.7 seconds as it heads towards a top speed of 245 mph (395 km/h).

W Motors has reportedly already taken over 100 orders for the two-seater that will initially be assembled in Italy (production will move to the Middle East later). Before you reach for your checkbook, keep in mind that the list price on the Hypersport is a very Middle East-like $3.4 million. Yes, each.

Tel Aviv parking video - screencap

As a general rule, we try to follow a few simple principles throughout the day, and one of the most important is, "don't anger the road workers." Why? The guys and girls responsible for taking care of our nation's roadways wield the seldom-seen power to seriously put a kink your day. If you need proof, look no further than the clip in the video below. In it, workers in Tel Aviv, Israel carefully paint a handicap space around an otherwise legally parked vehicle. After they finish, it doesn't take long for a tow truck to come along and haul off the "offending" sedan.

The owner was then fined around $270 for being illegally parked, and took to Facebook to vent about her situation. Local authorities got wind of the situation and quickly apologized, saying, "This was a severe mistake and a case of incompetence that the city of Tel Aviv does not accept." The city is reportedly also working to make sure something similar does not happen again. Check out the scene in the video below.

High-horsepower modification can be found just about anywhere around the globe, but this gang of Dubai desert racers has it in spades. The group assembled in the middle of the desert back in December, bringing out a huge collection of heavily modified SUVs and trucks. We can't remember the last time we saw so many massive turbo builds of this scale in one place. Clearly not built for daily use, a number of these engines seem to need a few seconds of pinging off their rev-limiters to make it to full boost pressure.

There seems to be a bit of everything in the mix, from your run-of-the-mill domestic big blocks to a number of Nissan SR20DET and Toyota 2JZ builds. As with most Dubai based stories, it's clear many of these creatures were built with an unlimited budget. One could only imagine what some of these engines would be capable of if they didn't have to fight for traction in the middle of the desert. Ridiculous? Yes. A riot to watch? You can count on it.

We've done our share of posting on the powerslides and street racing that's part of Middle Eastern hooning in high-dollar exotics, but almost all of the antics noted have taken place in the Middle East... as you'd expect. The UK's Channel 4 has produced a documentary that goes deep into exotic car culture of young Arabs, but not those in the Gulf states - the ones who fly or keep their cars in London for the summer to revel in what locals have dubbed "Arab supercar season."

Called Millionaire Boy Racers of London, the doc starts around Harrod's and in the superbly expensive neighborhoods of Knightsbridge and Chelsea, where veteran locals say things like, "The supercars are a manifestation of this too-much-ness." It then travels to the Middle East to look at the whats and whys of flying millions of dollars of metal thousands of miles to Europe's biggest city, then returns to London to look at how each side looks at the other.

It should be noted that an overall theme of this could be considered "young hooligans moving into and ruining the neighborhood," and some of the commentary is almost a caricature of the cranky retiree yelling "and git offa my lawn!" As well, the multicultural nature of the phenomenon - specifically, the need to be delicate with it - leads to assessments like, "I think there's been an exodus of what you'll call the more traditional residents of Knightsbridge."

The other side is full of quotables, though, like the young Arab man in the matte blue Lamborghini Murcielago who, upon being told that the chiming clock is Big Ben, responds with, "May God silence its noise." Nevertheless, we're thrilled we can count on the Brits to say, in all seriousness, "I think this sort of behavior is incredibly uncivilized."

CNG-powered truck explodes while being refilled

We've reported before on the proliferation of natural-gas powered vehicles in the heavily oil-sanctioned state of Iran. Now we've got some further very dramatic circumstantial evidence that not all of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles are as safe as their Iranian owners would hope.

It's hard to say just what caused the violent ending in this pickup refilling video - a KTLA rebroadcast from an unidentified news source - but the result is terrifying.
