Autocar took an Ariel Atom V8, BMW HP4 superbike and X-Games gold medalist Liam Doren's Citroën DS3 rallycross ride to an airstrip for a drag race. Sadly for all the drivers and for us, the clouds took to the sky and poured more and more rain on the track before the big race.

It's still a fun theoretical battle. The 550-kilogram Ariel Atom brings a 3.3-litre V8 with 475 horsepower, 268 pound-feet of torque and a 748-hp-per-ton ratio. The engine-restricted, 1,300-kg DS3 Rallycross rocks a 2.0-litre four-cylinder set for the day to about 560 hp, 600 lb-ft and - because of its variable boost - anywhere from 454-577 hp-per-ton. The HP4, naturally, does the most with the least, its 169 kg hauling a 1.0-litre engine with 163 hp, 83 lb-ft and a screaming 757 hp-per-ton.

It's a shame the weather didn't allow the entrants to show all they could do, especially the two-wheel-drive Atom. Nevertheless, it does demonstrate how critical the amount of available traction is to get the most from high-performance machinery, and there's lots of launch-controlled action and watch a winner crowned in the video below.

Who knew angry Volkswagen drivers could be so gangster? Although we can't (and won't) condone this type of dangerous road rage behaviour, this slang-spitting and slap-happy VW Golf owner is clearly upset after exchanging some equally careless driving with a motorcyclist who may have cut him off during an impromptu drag race.

Watch as the man dangerously cuts off the bike, stops his car, gets out and confronts the motorcycle rider on video by shouting "hey, you better check yo self fool," followed by a loud slap delivered directly to the biker's face. Similar actions often lead to a full-blown violent attacks and even gun fights erupting between angry drivers, but in this case it seems to have literally slapped some sense into them both (similar to this other video) as the two men decide to move on with their lives and hopefully slow it down. Vengeful road rage violence just isn't worth it folks!

A lucky Vancouver man survived being hit on his scooter by an oncoming TransLink bus in BC. Mark Jarder, a 23-year-old photographer was waiting to make a left turn on a busy street, when he was suddenly struck by the city bus which he claims "tried to beat the light."

The surprising crash video (which Jarder posted online) was recorded by his helmet-mounted GoPro camera, as the accident forced his red scooter to swerve into a traffic median and then tossed him to the ground. Reports have since been filed with the Vancouver Police Department, Insurance Corporation of British Columbia and TransLink.

"The bus hit the scooter, not me directly. That's why I'm alive... What I didn't expect was the bus to actually speed up and change lanes. It tried to beat the light," Jarder told The Huffington Post. As a result of the crash, Jarder sustained several minor injuries including road rash and a few bruises, narrowly avoiding any broken bones. The same can't be said for his poor scooter, which took most of the impact and had its footrest literally split in half by the bus.

My very first turn at the handlebars of a motorcycle came courtesy of an MSF Honda CB125. Despite the fact that it wore a very stern sticker on the tank warning all who rode that it was for instructional purposes only and not for legal sale, I wanted nothing more than to ride it past the cones of my license test and straight home. There was just something about the lightweight, low-power machine that just felt right. Now Honda is giving lucky buyers the chance to take home something similar. Meet the Grom. Yes, it's basically a sexed up scooter, but that's fine by me.

There's a fuel-injected 125cc single pushing the fat-tired bike around, and a four-speed gearbox handles shifting duty.The smallish 12-inch wheels give the Grom a bit of a goofball appearance, but the handsome bodywork and gold forks help offset the look. Something tells me this joker is more fun than should be legal. Check out a stunt riding video of the bike in action by scrolling down, and while you're there, you'll find a full press release on all of the new Honda powersports models, including the Grom. The bike will land in US showrooms this August with an MSRP of US$2,999, but no official word yet on the Grom making its way to Canada. We'll keep you posted on anything we hear.

Harley-Davidson FLHRC Road King Classic - profile view

Harley-Davidson is making some room on its dealers' showroom floors. The motorcycle manufacturer has announced it will kill off a total of six models for 2014, including the XR1200X Sportster, FXS Softail Blackline and the FLHTC Electra Glide Classic. The company says it's pulling the plug on the bikes to "optimize the number of choices available," according to VisorDown, and to "reduce product overlap." We imagine it also has something to do with the fact that Harley-Davidson saw sales decline by more than 9 per cent year over year despite an increase in profits in 2012.

Much of that sales decline can be attributed to lackluster demand in the USA. The manufacturer will axe the FLHRC Road King Classic in North America only, while the FLHR Road King will fall off of the order books in other markets. Don't expect to see the FLTRX Road Glide Custom or the FLTRU Road Glide Ultra in 2014, either, though Harley-Davidson promises both bikes will return after a redesign.

It certainly didn't take long for Toronto motorists to take advantage of the amazing weather these days, as this excited motorcyclist was spotted popping high speed wheelies along highway 403 this past Sunday.

The eye-popping stunt video was shot by a local news station employee who claims he encountered the biker traveling at speeds over 120 km/h before the motorcycle suddenly took off at upwards of 150 km/h. If police were to catch the unknown motorcycle rider, they could be charged with stunt driving or criminally dangerous driving.

According to reports from Ontario Provincial Police, it will be difficult for officers to pursue this matter because the driver wasn't stopped by police and a license plate can't be seen in the video. And so it seems the ever-elusive wheelie-king of Toronto remains on the loose... for now.

This Nevada cop was caught red handed by an impressive 12-year-old boy who busted him for illegally parking his motorcycle on a sidewalk in Las Vegas. Thanks to the kid's quick thinking and his camera phone, we can now enjoy watching the police officer outsmarted in a battle of wits with a well spoken young boy named Jeremy.

Watch things heat up as the boy confronts the big gulp drinking officer and asks if there was an emergency in the area which required his motorized vehicle to be parked on the sidewalk? After refusing to respond to the question, the irritated officer hops onto his patrol bike and asks, "What are you, a junior lawyer?" to which the boy politely replies, "No, I just want to see your badge number." Zing!

This girl-on-girl catfight quickly rages out of control when one woman has her clothes suddenly stripped off her back and ends up half-naked in public. Luckily, what appears to be her quick thinking boyfriend decides to make a speedy getaway and flee the strange scene on a scooter with his lingerie clad babe riding on the back.

Watch the ridiculous video as the predominantly male crowd cheers and encourages the heated striptease battle, until a guy in a gladiator costume (who they seem to be fighting over) finally helps tear the two angry girls apart. With little information to go on, this wacky video is easily one of the strangest sights we've ever seen.

Honda plans to storm the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 30, entering ten cars in nine classes at the race to the sky, and signing on as a corporate sponsor. Part of the company's return to grassroots racing - if that's what you can call factory-backed efforts - the banners of Honda R&D and Honda North America will fly on these entries: a first-gen Acura NSX, an Acura TL SH-AWD, Honda CR-Z, Honda Fit EV, one CRF450R and two CRF250R motorcycles, a CBR1000RR motorcycle and a TRX450 ATV.

One more entry, details of which are to be announced later, will be driven by IndyCar pilot Simon Pagenaud of Schmidt Hamilton HP Motorsports. LoveFab (pictured above during practice last year) will be there with its new, NSX-based Enviate, but as a privateer entry.

Honda's been to the mountain before, with high-powered gear in 2012 and record-setting EVs in 1994 and 1999, but it's never made noise like this. Have a read of the press release below for more info.

Motorcycle Bicycle Crash on Mulholland - screen cap

Now for a lesson in target fixation. As we're sure most of you know, your vehicle tends to go where your eyes go, and that's doubly true for motorcycles. Lock eyes with something you don't want to hit and invariably, that's precisely what you'll do. One rider in California recently found that out the hard way when he was confronted with a pair of bicyclists pedaling up Mulholland Highway. The rider exited a corner with plenty of angle left in his bike at a completely reasonable and legal speed, but panic apparently took over when he finally spotted the cyclists (was he distracted by the cameraman who caught the accident?). Rather than continue to lean, and thus turn, the rider grabbed a foot full of brake, stood his motorcycle upright and rammed both bicycles from behind.

All we can say is, it was a miracle no one was seriously injured in the crash. Everyone appears to have walked away with a few scrapes and bruises. You can watch the video below to see the whole disaster take shape, just be warned that the clip isn't for the weak of stomach. There's no serious gore, but watching the cyclists play Gumby is a terrifying sight all the same, and there's some explicit not-safe-for-work language, too.

As riders of both bicycles and motorcycles, we sympathize with both parties. Yes, the motorcycle rider is clearly at fault here, and yes, the bicycles have a right to be on the road as well. They were even well to the shoulder as they should have been, but part of riding a bicycle is choosing where to do so safely. Sure, Mulholland is a mecca for both bicyclists and motorcycle riders, but the winding canyon road is far from a safe stretch of asphalt for slow-moving vehicles of any ilk.

Russian motorcyclist wields angle grinder

Let's get this out of the way right off the bat: We don't know if the video you're about to watch really took place in the wild or if it were staged. That said, this appears to be one of the most alarming bits of road rage we've ever seen captured on video.

Let's set the scene. A motorcyclist is riding along with a good bit of distance between him and the black Nissan Juke in front of him before accelerating to catch up. The Juke driver moves to the left in order to avoid an obstacle in the road, cutting off the motorcyclist in the process, but everyone is fine. No harm, no foul? Hardly.

The motorcyclist falls way back, apparently biding his time and getting ready. Ready for what, you ask? Keep watching - the altercation concludes with an angle grinder, a frightened Juke driver and the loss of one minor appendage that once belonged to said Juke. Finally, a sticker that says 'NTV' is placed on the car's window, a fellow motorist appears to come to the driver's aid and the motorcyclist makes a quick getaway. Craziness.

TUM Create, a section of the Technical University of Munich, Germany, that has more than 100 technical types working on future solutions to mobility, worked with Singapore's Nanyang Technical University to come up with the Voi multipurpose electric scooter. The Voi - from the Vietnamese word for elephant - puts a rider behind an enclosed passenger cell that keeps proceedings narrow and can keep one of the occupants dry.

What's more, that front cell can be swapped for other modules like an open seat, a cargo box or a mobile kitchen. With the aim of being as convenient and affordable as a scooter and as comfortable as a car, the Voi can get up to 45 kilometres per hour (28 miles per hour) and has an 80 kilometre range (50 miles). A video explaining the project can be found below.

Revealed at the Taiwan International Electric Vehicle Show (EV Taiwan) this month, you can watch it being built and taken for a spin in the video below, and check out the press release.

Here's a quick thought, if you plan of performing some stupid motorcycle stunt, you may want to wear more than just a helmet and t-shirt in case things go wrong... oh and try to avoid crashing into your equally foolish biker buddies and taking them down with you!

This crazy helmet cam video captures a dangerous crash caused by a group of cocky motorcyclists attempting to show off their wheelie popping skills (or lack there of) on the streets of Trinidad and Tobago.

Watch as the epic stunt fail results in not just one, but two damaged motorcycles and a whole lot of nasty-looking road rash for a pair of speeding stunt riders after they crash hard and nearly become road kill.

With motorcycle riding weather finally here, most bikers have been itching to hit the open road with their pals and even take a few lucky passengers along for the ride. The terrified female passenger seen sitting on the back of this customized Suzuki GSX-R (pictured above) doesn't seem too impressed when she's suddenly tossed off the back seat and dangerously caught by the bike's oversized rear wheel!

According to the video description, the girl was lucky enough to walk away with only minor road rash and some ripped clothing after the accident. Thankfully, the owner of the ridiculously stretched sportbike was able to act fast during the "ejector seat" mishap, which certainly helped him prevent the almost deadly disaster from being much worse.

Newton's Cradle demonstrated by Shark helmets

Surely you're aware of Newton's Cradle - named after famous physicist Sir Isaac Newton - even if you didn't actually know it was called Newton's Cradle. Click here for Wikipedia's page on the device... okay, got it? Good. So, it's that thing that people put on their desks at work with little metal balls suspended on very thin wires. Pull one side back, let go, and watch the other side act in response.

Helmet maker Shark decided it would be fun to see if Newton's Cradle could also be made out of people. Motorcycle helmeted people, to be exact. Want to see how it all works... or doesn't work, depending on your point of view? Of course you do.

Motorcycle Police Chase Video

Riding a motorcycle through high traffic can be a stressful experience. And we don't even want to imagine what it's like to have to actually pursue someone on a police motorcycle. Fortunately, we don't have to. Officer Troy Gurley of the Florence, Alabama police force recently attempted to stop a vehicle for traffic violations. The driver, 24-year-old Justin Sanders, figured he could use his zippy Mazda3 to outrun the bike cop. Turns out, not so much.

Gurley pursued Sanders for nearly five minutes as the Mazda driver ran stop signs, swerved through traffic and raced through residential neighborhoods, but the perpetrator couldn't shake the tenacious and experienced rider. Other units soon joined the police pursuit, and Sanders thought it best to leave the protection of his car to attempt to flee on foot. From there, it didn't take officers long to apprehend him.

A young stunt riding teen has been banned from driving after UK Police say the 16-year-old boy was caught performing a "horrifying" stunt by a mobile police traffic camera. Officers who filmed the incident say they were shocked to see the boy "posing like Jesus Christ" on his 49cc motorcycle, as the video shows him standing up and waving his hands around while out riding with a group of friends.

According to a statement made by the teen in court, "I was showing off to my mates behind me," he explains. The student (who cannot be named) has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and reports say the boy, who is currently studying mechanics in motor vehicles at school had no previous convictions on record.

After sitting through several lengthy lectures from police, prosecutors and the judge in court, the boy was disqualified from driving any motor vehicle for 15 months and given a six-month referral order. The teen was also ordered to pay £200 (CAD$310) in court costs and a £15 (CAD$23) victim surcharge.

Safe cars don't make safe drivers, as the reckless person seen behind the wheel of this Volvo (pictured above) takes a dangerous stab at passing a pack of motorcycle riders on the shoulder of a highway.

The failed attempt to overtake the group of bikers becomes a double dose of driving karma when the speeding Volvo sedan loses control, skids across the road (nearly hitting several motorcyclists) before it eventually crash landed into the grassy ditch.

Let this be a lesson to all of you shoulder-passing hot shots out there, the gravel covered side of the road is not a lane. Luckily, no one seems to have been hurt in what could have been a very scary crash.
