<a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/sema/">SEMA</a> is more than nine months away, but the reveille bugle for the show has just sounded with Ford's call to aftermarket companies for its project-vehicle program. The 2014 <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/fiesta+st">Ford Fiesta ST</a> and 2014 <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ford/transit+connect">Transit Connect</a> van and wagon are the cars The Blue Oval wants to feature, but applicants can submit project vehicles for any product except the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ford/shelby+gt500/">GT500</a>, the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ford/f-150+svt+raptor/">Raptor</a>, or anything from <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/lincoln">Lincoln</a>.<br />

Submissions must be completed in two parts, the first being an email to <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ford">Ford</a> with an overview of the project, like vehicle theme, promotional plan and location display. The second part must be mailed in on company letterhead and gets down to the nuts and bolts of the vision and the provision of company bona fides. 	We couldn't believe our eyes when we found this incredible '<a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/1962-chevrolet-corvette-c1rs-at-sema/#photo-5423116/">62 Corvette</a> the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/BarrettJackson/">Barrett-Jackson</a> display at the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, NV. The story behind this build isn't so much of a restoration project, its more like a revolutionary concept car built within the silhouette of the legendary C1 'Vette that needed a closer look.<br />
	<br />
	The painstaking attention to detail and elaborate craftsmanship involved easily make this one of the most amazing <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/restomod/">resto-mod</a> examples we've ever seen in person. This custom car is far from ordinary, as the project quickly took on a very modern life of its own with the team at the Roadster Shop in Mundelein, IL.<br />
	<br />
	With virtually every panel from front to back being re-worked in carbon fibre and custom aluminum panels, the aptly named C1RS (RS stands for Roadster Shop) formed its stunning new shape. This C1 <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/chevrolet/corvette/">Corvette</a> also proves there's more than meets the eye, armed with a tire-shredding 618 horsepower LS7 crate motor and all the proper running gear to handle that power lurking under its classic hood.<br />
	<br />
	While it's hard to put a price on the passion and dedication behind this award-winning 'Vette, it looks like the upcoming <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/BarrettJackson/">Barrett-Jackson</a> auction in Scottsdale, AZ plans to do just that. We'll soon see what this iconic 1962 Corvette C1RS all adds up to during the week of January 13-20, 2013. One thing we do know, is that something this special won't come cheap. There's way too much ground to cover at the Las Vegas Convention Center each year at the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/sema/">SEMA Show</a>, so inevitably, some cool stuff always slips through the cracks. Apparently, in our rush to cover <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/31/1940-ford-sema-2012/">1940 Ford body shells</a> and the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/30/icon-dodge-d200-reformer-series-pickup-sema-2012/">ICON Dodge D200</a>, we missed this gem. <em>Top Speed</em> found a video of the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/traxxas/">Traxxas</a> stand at this year's event showing the company's latest radio-controlled car hitting triple-digit speeds on a dyno. In the video, the Traxxas X0-1 tops out at 167 kilometres per hour (104 miles per hour) with its motors hitting 22,500 rpm.<br />
<br />
The X0-1 might be a 1/7 scale car, but its performance puts it in competition with just about anything on four wheels. Introduced <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2011/12/01/traxxas-xo-1-is-worlds-first-100-mph-ready-to-run-r-c-car/">almost a year ago</a>, the four-wheel-drive X0-1 is an RC supercar that can accelerate from 0-160 km/h (0-100 mph) in under five seconds. Using the Traxxas Link app, you can even use your iPhone as the RC car's controller and telemetry screen. Like any other supercar, the X0-1 isn't cheap with a retail price of US$1,014.99.<br />

The sound of an old muscle car tends to grab the attention of most of us, often leading to an instant pause in any conversation. This often tends to leave people wondering why you've stopped talking or listening and why your head is swiveling on it's axis trying to pinpoint the source. Once the offending but oh so glorious sound is located, you stop and stare at the sheer presence of the beast. Whether it's sitting there idling and dumping raw fuel out of it's oversized tail pipes or rumbling past you, tripping seismometers everywhere, it's a beautiful sight.<br />
<br />
Alas, it's 2012 and the majority of us have grown accustomed to the comforts that modern engineering have brought to our world. The technology we have now is light years away from what was available in the years gone by. Suspension, chassis, interiors, motors and basically everything you can improve on has been done and redone ten-fold.<br />
<br />
So what do you do when you miss the classic styling and presence but are accustomed to modern tech? Dave Salvaggio of Salvaggio Automotive Design in Milwaukee, WI, has an answer. He's taken a customer's 1970 <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Dodge/">Dodge</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Charger/">Charger</a> and rebuilt it from the ground up. Retro-fitted with the latest suspension and drive train technology while retaining the style and feel of the classic car.<br />
<br />
"Up front is a custom, double-wishbone front suspension rolling on 18&Prime; wheels with rack and pinion steering. Power will come from a modern 6.1L modified <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/HEMI/">HEMI</a> that will deliver an estimated 620 horsepower through a manual transmission to a custom four-link rear suspension. The extra wide rear tires will be wrapped around 19&Prime; wheels nestled inside tubbed wheel housings, and go-to-whoa power will come from 4-piston Wilwood Disc Brakes. "Punishment" is a better description for what it will be like to not drive this car."<br />

It's generally not a car that most of us have on the top of our list when we think of our next new toy car. When roadster comes to mind, we tend to picture things like, AC <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Cobra/">Cobra</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Honda/">Honda</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/S2000/">S2000</a>, <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/BMW/">BMW</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Z4/">Z4</a> or if you're going to get un-technical, Lotus, anything.<br />

In stock form, the Miata does not tend to bring out the healthy doses of manly/she-manly giggles that should be the requirement when choosing a roadster. Since the mid 90's, companies such as <a href="http://www.monstermiata.com/" target="_blank">Monster Miata</a> have cropped up to do their best change our mind. So, what does <a href="https://www.facebook.com/BauerLTD" target="_blank">Catfiish</a> have to say about it? Read on and find out.<br />

They set out to transform a run of the mill roadster (albeit the worlds best selling one) that does what it was designed to very well into a Speedster. The Catfish may be based on an MX-5 Miata but the finished product does not resemble one at all. Much of the Miata's parts have been replaced by Catfish, including a new hood, trunk, doors, bumpers, and a top and convertible frame. The Catfish Speedster will be offered with a standard 1.6 litre engine or a 1.8 litre NB Rotrex with over 260hp, but for customers who want a little more push, Bauer will also be offering an LS2 V8 engine. <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/search/?q=cts-v&amp;s_it=header_form">CTS-V's</a> are already a force to be reckoned with. What happens when Hennessey gets their magical make-go-really-fast hands on it? <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/09/06/2013-hennessey-vr1200-makes-the-cts-v-seem-slow-w-video/">This</a> happens. There's not much out there that can make a CTS-V seem slow. The VR1200 makes most cars out the road seem slow. With a top speed of 389 km/h (242 mph) and the potential hit 320 km/h (200 mph) in the standing mile, this car is no joke.<br />

At <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/SEMA/">SEMA</a>, 2012, we delightfully spotted this beast just basking in the sun like it was no big deal. We disagree, this car is kind of a big deal. This is the same car that did <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/25/watch-hennessey-tuned-cadillac-cts-v-run-over-355-km-h-on-a-texa/">355 km/h on a Texan highway</a>.<br />
<br />
Just to reiterate on how amazing this car is, here's the specs, again. The 2013 <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/VR1200/">VR1200</a> Twin Turbo Coupe ditches the stock block and blower for a 7.0-litre lump and a pair of turbos. With innards like forged pistons, connecting rods and a forged crankshaft, the engine is good for 1,226 horsepower and 1,109 pound-feet of torque at the flywheel. The company says the finished product is basically a de-tuned version of the same beating heart that powers the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/VenomGT/">Venom GT</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Hennessey/">Hennessey</a> also swapped the stock brakes for 15.1-inch carbon ceramic rotors front and rear pressed by eight-piston clamps at the bow and six-piston calipers on the stern. A slew of carbon fibre widebody pieces outside and a magnetic ride suspension tuned by none other than John Heinricy himself are just a few of the other upgrades. With a top speed of 389 km/h (242 mph), the two-door easily eclipses the stock CTS-V's 289 km/h (180 mph) v-max.<br />

This blacked-out <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/2012-limos-by-moonlight-truck/#photo-5402089/">Limos by Moonlight</a> built creation is oozing machismo, as the 2012 <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ford/f-series+super+duty/">Ford Super Duty F350 Crew Cab 4x4</a> delivers a hefty US$135,000 of luxury truck glory. The armoured option of truck looks exactly the same but will cost extra depending on the level of ballistic plates and windows.<br />

While is may not be the stretch limo of your dreams, this tricked out truck offers a hardcore look few vehicles can match. Plus, it's pimped out interior features more electronic gadgetry than your local Best Buy and enough cross-stitched leather to make any cow cringe. The armoured option version looks the same but costs a few extra bucks for ballistic plates and windows.<br />

Although the jury is still out on the hatchback-like design, we'll admit it sure adds some new practicality and space for the outrageous entertainment system. However, we're not convinced of how practical owning a 6.2 litre F-350 with a custom <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/2012-limos-by-moonlight-truck/#photo-5402090/">16-gauge metal body kit</a> would be since its fuel mileage was strategically omitted from its <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/2012-limos-by-moonlight-truck/#photo-5402135/">spec sheet</a>. Any guesses? Maybe 30 L/100?<br />

At first glance it may look like some crazy custom <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Hummer/">Hummer</a> or life size <em>G.I. Joe</em> toy, but this extreme machine is actually built by the off-road vehicle specialists at <a href="http://www.zibarusa.com" target="_blank">Zibar</a> in Israel. Never heard of them? Well you're not alone, as we hadn't either... that is until we noticed <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/2012-zibar-truck/#photo-5402047/">this bad ass Hummer-fighter</a> staring us down on the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/SEMA/">SEMA</a> show floor last week.<br />
<br />
Naturally, we had to learn more and share our tour of this military-spec 4x4 in <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/2012-zibar-truck/#photo-5402047/">photo gallery</a> form. Based on our civilian intel, the Zibar MK2 desert patrol vehicles is powered by a <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/GM/">GM</a> LSX 454ci, which delivers a whopping 620 horsepower from its 7.4 litres along with a staggering 590 lb-ft of torque. With a curbweight of 2,700 kg (5,950 lbs) and a 0-100 km/h time of just 5 seconds, this monster shouldn't be taken lightly.<br />

According to its creators, the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/2012-zibar-truck/#photo-5402047/">Zibar MK2</a> has been designed and built with a single purpose in mind: high mobility over any terrain. It's built on what Zibar calls a "flexible platform" which allows any MK2 to be easily tailored to meet a customer's needs, while maintaining full flexibility for any future modifications.<br />
<br />
Current Zibar models are easily configured for security, VIP and military use world wide. Armed with over 20-inches (530mm) of under body ground clearance a top speed of 180 km/h and an approach angle of 90 degrees, yes 90, so the Zibar MK2 is ideally suited for any mission at hand.<br />

At <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/SEMA/">SEMA</a> we sometimes get to see things that we can only dream about. We also see cars that we wish we would have never seen. But here at Autoblog Canada, we care about the cars that are worth caring about. A custom <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Prius/">Prius</a> is not something we want to look at when go to the world's largest aftermarket car show. We want to share the face-melting radness that's on display and here's a prime example.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.aerosmith.com/" target="_blank">Aerosmith</a>. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Tyler" target="_blank">Steven Tyler</a>. <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Hennessey/">Hennessey</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/VenomGT/">Venom GT</a>. 1,244 horses (minus the carriage). Do we have your attention? Good.<br />
<br />
Earlier this year, this mega Rockstar picked up his big bad snake from <a href="http://www.hennesseyperformance.com/" target="_blank">Hennessey Performance</a> in Texas and we had the privilege of <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/06/04/steven-tyler-aerosmith-frontman-takes-delivery-of-hennessey-ven/">spreading that news to the world</a>. At SEMA this year, we see Steven is "still in the saddle" and that snake is definitely rattling. Thank you for putting this beast on display at Meguiar's booth, even though it was supposed to be a secret... don't worry we won't tell.<br />
<br />
Here's what you really want to hear about. The 1,244 HP Venom GT borrows some parts from the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Lotus/">Lotus</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Exige/">Exige</a> including roof, doors, windows, windshield, dash, interior and a few mechanical goodies from inside. But from the doors back it is all Hennessey insanity including a built 6.2L (376 ci) with twin <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Garrett/">Garrett</a> turbos pushing quadruple digits through a Ricardo 6-speed transaxle. 1,155 ft lbs of torque and 0-60 mph (96 km/h) rips of 2.5-seconds or an outrageous run to 200 mph (320 km/h) of only 15.3-seconds. This car is faster than a <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Bugatti/">Bugatti</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Veyron/">Veyron</a> and a tad more wild.<br />
<br />
For now, we'll 'dream on' and 'walk this way' with all these 'sweet emotions' that this car brings out in any red-blooded human being.<br />

Part of the blinged-out pomp and circumstance that surrounds <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/sema">SEMA</a> is the presentation of the <em>Gran Turismo</em> Awards, which recognizes best car design and innovations in six categories, as well as an overall Best in Show. This year's winner was David Eckert and his 1969 <a href="http://www.eckertsrodandcustom.com/projects_mustang.php" target="_blank">Ford Mustang Mach 40</a>, which also won the award for Best Hot Rod.<br />

Other winners included the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/30/toyota-dragquoia-sema-2012/">Toyota DragQuoia</a> for Best Truck/SUV, the 2013 Ford Mustang RTR for Best Domestic Car, the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/scion/">Scion</a> Evasive FR-S for Best Asian Import and the 500-horsepower <em>VWVortex</em> Super <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/volkswagen/beetle/">Beetle</a> won for best European Import.<br />

But it was the Mach 40 that apparently captured the interest of judges, which included<em> Gran Turismo </em>creator Kazunori Yamauchi. David Eckert's team created a clever combination of Mustang Mach 1 styling and massive power, using the powertrain from the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/FordGT/">Ford GT</a>. That means this 'Stang was fitted with a mid-mounted supercharged 5.4-liter V8, producing 600 to 850 horsepower, modulated using an "adjustable horsepower dial." Interestingly, the custom project rides on a C6 <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/chevrolet/corvette/">Corvette</a> suspension.<br />
<br />
The notoriety of the Mach 40 will last well after this year's show, as the car is being included in the <em>Gran Turismo</em> franchise, and will be seen by the millions that play the popular driving simulator. You may never get to drive the Mach 40, but now you may know what driving this car feels like in virtual reality, which for the David Eckert's team, must feel pretty darn cool.<br />

According to <a href="http://www.modernhippiemag.com/2010/09/environmental-impact-automobile-tires/" target="_blank">this recent article</a>, tires are not our friends. Not to us or the environment.<br />

"Beyond the actual ingredients in tires, environmentalists have also been critical of the tire industry for producing tires that stick to the road so well that they cause engines to burn extra fuel to overcome the added friction, which leads in turn to more greenhouse gas emissions out of our tailpipes." - Stop developing tires that grip so well! That would be counter productive to our safety. (tongue is firmly lodged in this writer's cheek.)<br />
<br />
In the spirit of today's topic, drift drivers <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/search/?q=vaughn+gittin+jr.&amp;s_it=header_form">Vaughn Gittin Jr.</a>, <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/ChrisForsberg/">Chris Forsberg</a> and <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/RyanTuerck/">Ryan Tuerck</a> decided to defend the honour of the environment and slay some of those nasty, grippy tires alongside some of the boys from <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/search/?q=formula+d&amp;s_it=header_form">Formula D</a> and <a href="http://www.kibbetech.com/MAIN_new.html" target="_blank">Kibbetech.</a><br />

And so, out come the racecars and even a stock <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Ford/">Ford</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Mustang/">Mustang</a> V6 to put on what we'd call a very memorable smoke show. Cue, upper level <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/SEMA/">SEMA</a> party that was literally on fire and smoking. We'd like to apologize in advance for the video quality, as this cameraman was clearly filming with a 1 megapixel potato.<br />

The <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/scion/fr-s/">Scion FR-S</a> was just named the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/31/sema-crowns-mustang-fr-s-as-this-years-hottest-cars-in-the-bui/">Hottest Sport Compact</a> at the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/sema/">2012 SEMA Show</a>, and Toyota Racing Development (<a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/trd/">TRD</a>) is apparently looking to make this car a little hotter. According to <em>Car and Driver,</em> TRD is close to coming up with a supercharger to fit to the car's 2.0-litre flat-four engine in order to squeeze out a little more performance. Currently, the FR-S produces 200 horsepower, but there's no guessing how much a supercharger could improve this figure.<br />

With <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/subaru/">Subaru</a> seemingly hard at work on a new <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/22/subaru-developing-engine-for-brz-turbo/">turbo engine for the BRZ</a> and even <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/11/01/possible-subaru-brz-sti-sighting-on-the-ring/">possibly a BRZ STI model</a>, it is only logical for a force-fed FR-S to be in the works as well. Surprisingly, though, the report says that supercharger would be unique to the FR-S, but since the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/scion/">Scion</a> and <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/subaru/brz/">Subaru BRZ</a> are mechanically identical, it isn't clear how this would be accomplished. TRD already offers plenty of upgrades for the FR-S such as exhaust, brake and suspension kits, and it offers a handful of superchargers for other models including the 5.7-litre V8 used in the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/toyota/tundra/">Toyota Tundra</a> and the 4.0-litre V6 used in the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/toyota/tacoma/">Tacoma</a>.<br />

TRD made the announcement after the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/11/01/scion-fr-s-racecar-scca-world-challenge-sema-2012/">Scion World Challenge Race Car</a> was unveiled at SEMA. In order for it to be competitive in the GTS class, Scion will be running a supercharger. In order to remain class legal, it has to be a factory upgrade.<br />

And as soon as it began, <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/SEMA/">SEMA</a> has come to a close. The show, as we have said many times, is almost too big for a mere four days. We could spend double that taking it all in.<br />
<br />
We wrapped up operations with the Wheel &amp; Tire Hall, which has changed a lot over the years. Once home to powerhouses <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Bridgestone/">Bridgestone</a>, <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Michelin/">Michelin</a> and <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Goodyear/">Goodyear</a> the landscape has shifted to south Asian manufacturers. Falken of course put on a clinic about how to attract a crowd. An outrageous Ben Sopra-kitted <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Nissan/">Nissan</a> <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/GTR/">GT-R</a> with a flip front hood and dozens of aerodynamic tweaks.<br />
<br />
Then it was time to head out when the show came to a close. Why? Because it is the best part of the show seeing all of the show cars fired up and driving down the street. Although it might seem like a cop's dream to have all these illegal cars on the road, the whole city of Las Vegas backs this and approximately half of the 100,000 show attendees stick around for this event. We have loads of pics and even some HD video of the mayhem unfolding right in front of us.<br />
<br />
For now, it's time to rehabilitate our beaten bodies and get some therapy at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to drive some exotic cars at the <a href="http://www.exoticsracing.com" target="_blank">Exotic Racing</a> experience. We'll have more on that later!<br />

    <title><![CDATA[Global RallyCross comes to Vegas with SEMA]]></title>

<a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/global rallycross">Global RallyCross</a> is an interesting motorsport. Beginning in 2010 at the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/x games">X Games</a>, the series races on short tracks made partly of asphalt and partly of dirt, along with a signature variation called the Joker Lap, in which drivers are required to take an alternate, slightly longer route that generally incorporates a 70-foot gap jump.<br />
<br />
The final event for the 2012 season took place just across the street from the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/sema">SEMA Show</a> in Las Vegas, and those of us covering the event for Autoblog scored a birds-eye view of the track from our hotel rooms. Fortunately for those who weren't able to attend, X Games decided to upload the entire final to YouTube.<br />

For those keeping track, <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/tanner foust">Tanner Foust</a> took the victory, clinching the Global RallyCross Championship for the second year in a row. The race had to be restarted after Ken Block's car started billowing ominous-looking black smoke from underhood.<br />

Think you have it busy on your daily commute to work? Try navigating the aisles of a million sq. ft. of <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/SEMA/">SEMA Show</a> with 100,000 of your closest associates feverishly walking around. We tackled Performance Hall and truth be told, there never really is a time of day when it is dead. Well that and the fact there were <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/celebrities/">celebrities</a> wondering the area certainly didn't help the congestion.<br />
<br />
What caught our eye first was <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2012-performance-hall-and-proving-grounds/#photo-5408866/">Steven Tyler's 1,244 hp Hennessy Venom</a> in the Meguiar's booth. Yes, you might have noticed there was a yellow one in the booth last year but with different tweaks to personalize it for the Aerosmith front man. We hope he got some driving lessons John Hennessy along with that monster of a Lotus Elise.<br />
<br />
Then we bumped into <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2012-performance-hall-and-proving-grounds/#photo-5408992/">Snoop Dogg</a>, er <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2012-performance-hall-and-proving-grounds/#photo-5408995/">Snoop Lion</a> at the event and he gave us the nod when the LBC rapper noticed we were rocking Autoblog shirts and badges... is he a fan of us as well? We definitely think so, but we know for sure he was en route to the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/toyota">Toyota</a> display to check out the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/30/toyota-dragquoia-sema-2012/" target="_blank">Drag-quoia</a>. An insane <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/toyota/sequoia/">Toyota Seqouia</a>, tubbed out with slicks a 650hp supercharged V8 and a bug catcher that was selected as a Playstation <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Gran+Turismo/">Gran Turismo</a> awards finalist. And just who selected that? None other than <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Kazunori+Yamauchi/">Kazunori Yamauchi</a> who created the legendary racing game who <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2012-performance-hall-and-proving-grounds/#photo-5408926/">we caught up with inspecting the vehicle</a>.<br />
<br />
We trekked out to the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/GM/">GM</a> Proving Grounds where we saw all kinds of <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/chevrolet/">Chevy</a> vehicles on display for people to try out. While there was a decent line up there, it was the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/Ron+Fellows/">Ron Fellows</a> Edition Corvette convertible everyone was lined up for. <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2012-performance-hall-and-proving-grounds/#photo-5409074/">Ron Fellows Racing School</a> was on hand to, well school passengers in <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2012-performance-hall-and-proving-grounds/#photo-5409069/">Corvette ZR1s</a>. We just couldn't get enough of the ZR1's howling sounds and they tore up the pylon course with enough torque to push around a half dozen Sonics.<br />
<br />
Next to that <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/lexus/">Lexus</a> put on quite a display. They had an <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/lexus/lfa/">LF-A</a> on hand, nothing new right? Well, <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/photos/sema-2012-performance-hall-and-proving-grounds/#photo-5409087/">this LF-A was open to show attendees</a> who could hop in and run through the gears on a dyno for one memorable soundtrack. Next to that they had a tent displaying some concepts but the real jewel in there was the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/31/lexus-lfa-nurburgring-edition-sema-2012/">Nurburgring Limited Edition LF-A</a>. With its fixed carbon fibre wing, front canards and special footwork, there is only 50 of these in the world... and lucky owners get some VIP treatment and instruction at the famed German racetrack too.<br />

There's a soft spot in our hearts for well-done resuscitation of vintage off-road iron. Perhaps the most notable company performing such restomod work is <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/icon">Icon 4x4</a>, but the Californian outfit isn't the only company turning its attention to the down-and-dirty side of the vintage scene.<br />
<br />
Legacy Classic Trucks in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is using the <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/sema">2012 SEMA Show</a> to display the Legacy Power Wagon. As its name implies, the truck started life many, many years ago as a <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/dodge">Dodge</a> Power Wagon (built between 1945 and 1980 - not to be confused with <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/power+wagon/">the current version</a>), itself based on an older military design. In stock form, the Power Wagon was much loved for its stalwart ability to carry people and products over just about any terrain.<br />
<br />
In the form you see above, the massively capable Power Wagon looks beefy enough to pull a freight train uphill through a snow storm... or something like that. As seen above, the Legacy Power Wagon would set back its buyer some US$180,000. In base configuration, the truck runs US$114,950. That's a huge sum, no doubt, but we're sure a few well-heeled buyers won't mind.<br />
<br />
If nothing else, the Legacy Power Wagon Conversion is equipped with top-shelf componentry. The buyer can choose from either a 426-cubic-inch V8 with 425 horsepower from the Mopar parts book or a 3.9-litre Cummins turbo diesel four cylinder mill pounding out 480 pound-feet of torque. A range of transmission options are available, up to the stout Allison unit of the show truck.<br />

<a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/make/chrysler">Chrysler</a> first introduced us to its <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/ram%20runner">Ram Runner</a> exactly <a href="http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/04/sema-2010-chrysler-gets-down-and-dirty-with-ram-runner-and-ram/" target="_blank">two years ago</a> at <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/sema/">SEMA</a>, but for buyers of this <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ford/f-150+svt+raptor/">Raptor</a>-like truck who don't want to go through dealerships for the upgrades, VWerks has just the thing. Looking every bit as mean as the dealer-built Ram Runner, the VWerks Ram KTS gets a wide-body treatment and upgraded off-road performance suspension similar to its Mopar contemporary.<br />
<br />
Starting life as your everyday <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ram/1500/">Ram 1500</a>, the Ram KTS on display at SEMA features a beefed-up KORE long-travel suspension system and off-road tires that allows the truck to tackle tough terrain at high speeds. From there, VWerks also added wider front and rear fenders, matte black 17-inch wheels and a Flowmaster performance cat-back exhaust system. For buyers looking for the rough and rugged look of the KTS but not needing the high-speed, off-road abilities, VWerks also offers the Baja Series kit that replaces the performance suspension system with a set of 20-inch wheels.<br />
<br />

It's easy to forget it was Holman &amp; Moody that helped first put a <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/ford/mustang">Ford Mustang</a> on track in competition. Well before <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/caroll shelby">Carroll Shelby</a> ever spun a wrench on one of the pony cars, H&amp;M served up a set of race engines for Alan Mann Racing. That team took four specially prepared 1964 notchback Mustang models to the 4,000-mile Tour de France Automobile and brought home first place in the Touring Car class. Holman &amp; Moody have chosen to celebrate that milestone with a special 2014 Ford Mustang dressed in the traditional Alan Mann Racing gold and red livery.<br />
<br />
The car features a horsepower nudge from <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/ford+racing/">Ford Racing</a> as well as adjustable <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/tag/svt">SVT</a> shocks and struts, HMPerformance adjustable sway bars, lowering springs and an oil cooler. A set of Ford Racing mufflers and a Ford Racing x-pipe give the car a little more bark, while the one-off 19-inch wheels add some flash to the mix. The totally new <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/honda/accord">2013 Honda Accord</a> has just now started trickling into dealerships across the country, but here at <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/sema/">SEMA</a>, we're already getting our first look at what the future has in store for Honda's midsize offering. Arriving in <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/honda">Honda</a> showrooms next spring is this limited-edition HFP performance edition of the 2013 Accord Coupe, and although no power upgrades are on tap, there's some extra kit that will indeed make things more interesting out on the road.<br />
<br />
Honda's HFP upgrades start with visual add-ons like 19-inch alloy wheels and a rear decklid spoiler, and further changes are found underneath that sheetmetal with the addition of a unique sport suspension that lowers the car by 15 millimeters and enhances overall handling. Of course, no sporty Accord would be complete without the necessary body enhancements to the front fascia, side sills and rear bumper, and don't worry, there will be plenty of HFP badges on both the exterior and interior.<br />
<br />
Speaking of interior, the Accord HFP will have red illumination found throughout the cabin as well as - wait for it - specially branded floor mats.<br />
<br />
A Honda spokesperson confirmed to <em>Autoblog</em> that the HFP package will be available with both the four- and six-cylinder engine. We've already had a chance to drive a two-door Accord with the V6 engine, and it's seriously good. The HFP add-ons should make this a truly sweet package.<br />
<br />
Only 500 of the Accord Coupe HFP models will be produced, and the whole package will be offered as a US$4,650 option package, not including the cost of installation. <a href="http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/10/30/2013-honda-accord-coupe-hfp-sema-2012/#continued">Scroll down</a> for the full details in Honda's press release.<br />
