The new 991-generation of the Porsche 911 is now upon us, with the Carrera and Carrera S coupes unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show. So what do you think? Because love it or hate it, it'll be around for a while; 14 years, if the latest reports prove accurate. According to Car, the new 911 will be around for two seven-year product lifecycles. And over the course of its life, you can bet that it'll spawn as many derivatives as the model it replaces. First down the pipeline will reportedly be the Cabriolet, expected to arrive in both regular (3.4-litre 350-horsepower flat-six) and S ... Read More

The 911 For The All-Season Sporting Playboy After our many drives of the new 991-generation Porsche 911 Carrera over the past 18 months, we've felt at times that this more gran turismo-like 911 with its wider tracks and 3.9 inches (10 cm) of extra wheelbase would be particularly well suited to an all-wheel-drive setup. And so we went over stunning and ...

On The Move, Stuttgart's Icon Recalibrates The Scales Like any sensible person, I hate moving with the burning intensity of a thousand white-hot suns. Odd, then, that I've become so proficient at it. A serial renter now in my mid-30s, I've moved every couple of years like clockwork. I've long since outgrown the whole "impose on friends in exchange for ...

The naturally ...

Practical magic Within sports car circles there are few that don't revere the 911, and in my experience those who don't give the car the respect it deserves simply haven't driven it. Truly, it's a victim of its own success. A sports car icon that has become so popular that many take it for granted, and considering the number of examples you're ...

Scary-fast Turbo S is surprisingly sensible-if you look hard enough I'd just sent a picture of my weekly test car to my mother's cell phone. This time, it was a baby blue 2011 Porsche 911Turbo S, or the fastest mainstream Porsche model currently available. Mom's not up on cars. And though the Porsche 911 wears one of the most distinctive shapes in ...

911 GTS is the most athletic Carrera yet Porsche has more 911 Carrera variants than one could shake a stick at-and their latest, the 911 Carrera GTS, intends to cap the range with its sportiest model yet. Without going into the Turbo series or the outrageous GT3 factory race car lineup, this is as athletic as the 911 Carrera gets. With white paint, ...
